Other costs
Besides the fees payable to the University, you should also budget for:
textbooks (this may well be in the region of £300 per year if you are taking four units in one year);
tuition costs (if studying at a teaching institution);
local examination centre (if you are taking examinations outside London you will have to pay an
additional fee to your local examination centre. This fee will vary).
Please note
The University reserves the right to amend previously announced fees, if necessary. The fees shown above are
valid from 1 September 2010 until 31 August 2011 and are subject to annual review.
All fees must be paid in pounds sterling, which may be paid either by a credit card recognised by MasterCard
International or by the Visa group OR by banker's draft, cheque or UK postal order, made payable to 'The
University of London'.
Application fees are to be paid by 17 September for an applicant who resides outside the European Union and
17 October for an applicant who resides within the European Union. Registration fees are to be paid by 30
November for a student who wishes to take examinations in the following year. Examination fees are to be paid

by 1 February in the year that a student intends to take the examination. Continuing registration fees are to be
paid by 10 October in the second and all subsequent years of registration.
Payment by sponsors: generally, students will be expected to correspond directly with their sponsor regarding
fees. The University can provide an invoice, if needed, upon request. Materials will not be sent out until fees
have been received or an official letter (on letter headed paper) from the sponsor is received which confirms
that payment is being made.
