Title of the Bill: Service Recognition Act

BE IT ENACTED BY THE MORRISON CONGRESS

1 SECTION 1: Findings
2 Congress makes the following findings:
3 1) 254 million tons: The amount of trash that Americans generate in a
4 year.(1)
5 2) Donate or raise money for your local Red Cross (2)
6 3) Community service is not political and it is not mandated by the state.
7 It is something that comes from deep within our core values. (3)
8 4) Helping others can be as simple as washing dishes at your local
9 shelter or delivering a meal to an elderly shut in (3)
10 5) These are people who cant get to the doctors office, cant get to the
11 grocery store, cant get out to socialize. They become invisible for a
12

SECTION 2: Purpose
16 To make sure citizens get recognized and rewarded for the outstanding work
17 they do in community service.

19 SECTION 3: General Provisions
20 There are a lot of elderly shut ins in our neighborhood that we do not notice.
21 Nor do we notice that there is a need in our community unless we take our
22 time and think for our community. Citizens who do community service also
23 have jobs and families. There should be a system to recognize these
24 people for what they do. Coverage of community service can vary from
25 delivering a meal to a elderly shut in to picking up trash on the street to
26 joining the neighborhood watch..etc. Annually, communities should
27 establish a Best Citizen of the Year in order to encourage people to join
28 the community service. The Best Citizen of the Year Award should be a
29 representation of how active this citizen is to our community. This award
30 should be a way to demonstrate to banks and governments that this
31 citizen has been recognized for the outstanding work theyve done for the
32
community and as a reward to be sent with a check of 10,000 dollars.This
33
award should be nominated by neighbors, who can call the city hall, and
34
vote on the Best Citizen of the Year. To prevent fraud, citizens need to
35
36 provide evidences with what the citizen has done for the community.

SECTION 4: Definitions

Community Service: voluntary work intended to help people in a particular area.
