L'Oral 's Research and Innovation teams apply the principles of sustainable and responsible innovation
on a daily basis. Listening to the expectations of consumers, they are committed to the pursuit of ethical
beauty that respects diversity.
We have 3,870 employees of approximately 60 nationalities. working in some thirty disciplines, more
than half of which are doctors or engineers, and are responsible for over 497 patents filed in 2015.
India is the 6th research and innovation hub globally. It includes a Product Development Center in
Mumbai and an Advanced Research Center in Bangalore, and employs over 100 Indian researchers and
scientists from the fields of Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology,
Chemical Engineering, Physics and Biology.
We conduct research on Indian hair and skin specificities as well as the beauty routines and expectations
of Indian consumers, and translate those needs into innovative products ranging from skin care, hair care,
hair color, color cosmetics and personal hygiene.

the launch of several iconic brands. With LOreal Indias rapid and meteoric growth, operations expanded
to a full-fledged eco-system to support all commercial activities. In its twenty year old journey in India,
L'Oral India evolved from a start-up to an acknowledged as top 3 market leader in new categories of
beauty. Our ambition is to reach 1 billion euros by 2020.
Our Research & Innovation center , the sixth hub globally works closely with marketing team on new
product development to create some exceptional products that are tailor made for the Indian consumer
eg: Kolossal Kajal (Maybelline), LOreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish, Garnier Oil in Cream etc to name a few.
