Focus on teaching tools (please feel free to talk about previous days you have observed, too, for
this one.

1. In what ways do the CT and students use the textbook?

a. They dont actually use the textbook during class, but Profe uses the textbook to
create vocabulary activities, guide grammar lessons, and create the big unit
tests.
b. The students have online access to the book through schoology, and use the
book to make their vocabulary lists (they copy down the English definitions of
the words).
2. How is technology used for lesson delivery?
a. Profe and the students are rarely not using technology in class. Either she is
using the smartboard to guide activities or show videos or content, or the
students are using their Chromebooks to play games (on quizlet or schoology) or
do activities that go along with the content.
3. What questioning techniques are used?
a. I think that the question that Profe asks the most in class is Do you know what
_________ means? after she says something in Spanish.
b. Profe will ask students to translate questions or sentences that contain
vocabulary or grammar tenses are currently being learned.
4. How does the CT incorporate authentic video/audio/photos, etc. into his/her lessons?
a. Profe often plays Spanish music when students are walking into class, or at the
end, if they get worktime on homework.
b. The students just watched The Book of Life in class, and switched off between
English speaking with Spanish subtitles and Spanish speaking with English
subtitles to receive the language in different ways.
c. Profe has a lot of posters and pictures from Spanish speaking countries of
movies, famous people, or sports teams all over her classroom.
5. What are different teaching tools the teacher uses to reach students from various
learning styles?
a. Profe uses various kinds of activities that match up with several different
learning styles
i. She uses online interactive quizzes
ii. She has students do traditional grammar and vocabulary homework
online and on worksheets
iii. They listen to authentic videos, movies and songs
iv. They move around the classroom
v. The students work collaboratively and alone
vi. They get to use artistic skills on occasional assignments
6. How does the teacher use technology to maintain contact with students and parents?

a. Through schoology, infinite campus and email, Profe can send messages to
students and parents about important events, projects and tests.
7. How do the students use technology to enhance their learning?
a. The students use technology throughout class, whether it is something they are
looking at on the smartboard, or on their own Chromebooks.
b. They do online quizzes, homework and tests in class to bring learning into the
21st century, which is how students of today learn better.
8. How does the teacher use the classroom space to enhance the learning experience?
a. The students get up and move around in partners often, to do group work, or
play games like Quizlet live.
b. Recently, we used the class space to learn some cultural dances of Spanish
speaking countries!
9. How does the teacher use informal and or formative assessment to meet the needs of
the students or decide what to teach?
a. Profe uses Quizizz, quizlet, and online homework assignments to see how
students are doing in class with the current content.
b. From there, she adjusts and changes her instruction to what her students need.
