363 Portfolio Cover Letter Peer Review Sheet

Writer: Alex Raessner Assessor: Tracy Mae De Vera

Please read two or three of your peerss cover letters. Give the most specific advice that you can
with regard to these questions:

1. Does the letter directly address ALL YES NO

of our student learning outcomes?
2. Does the letter support its claims
about how the portfolio demonstrates YES Sometimes NO
the writers achievement of our
SLOs with specific evidence from
actual portfolio documents? Heres
an example of specific evidence: In
the third paragraph of my persuasive
essay, I disagree with Dr.
Frankenweenies declaration that
VitaminWater produces good health
and weight loss. By noting that the
NIH has found that children gain
weight if they drink Vitamin Water
every day, I show that Im able to
consider and present fairly the
merits of different viewpoints.
3. Were you doubtful about or YES Sometimes NO
unpersuaded by any of the writers
claims about a particular SLO?
4. Is the letter organized logically and YES Sometimes NO
efficiently, or could you suggest
ways to improve the organization
(topic sentences, transitions, P order,
thesis)?
5. Does the cover letter use letter YES NO
formatting?
6. Are the letters sentences effective YES Sometimes NO
and clear?
1. Good job addressing all SLOs in your cover letter.

2. Although you did provide evidence for most of your claims, you did not provide enough
evidence for the SLO of collaboration. You explained how you critiqued and gave advise to
another groups proposal but you did not state how you improved your groups proposal.
Collaboration goes two-ways. By including how the other team helped improve your groups
proposal, it will make your persuasion better.

3. Like stated in the previous question, you need to add evidence to your claim of collaboration.
Besides that, you did a great job persuading and providing evidence for your claims.

4. This also pertains to the collaboration SLO. For all of your paragraphs, your topic sentences
started out with listing what SLOs each document satisfies. But since you state the SLO of
collaboration in the last sentence of the peer review paragraph, it throws off your organization.
Please keep them consistent.
