Risk and Sustainability Management

Masterclass

December 2017
Lucas College, Accra-Ghana
( Near Abelemkpe Traffic Light)
Course Synopsis
Sustainability is a widely used term in business today. But what does it really mean?
How are businesses positioning themselves to exploit the full potential of sustainable
business practices?
Every organization faces a number of challenges that can prevent the realization of its
objectives. Some of these challenges can be internal or external. The effect this
uncertainty has on organizations objectives is what the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO) defines as risk.

Some of these risks might be political, technological, health and safety, social,
environmental, regulatory, legal and financial. Some of the risks might be known
others unknown.

By the effective application of risk management principles and practices, it is possible

to ensure risks are proactively identified, managed proactively, consistently,
efficiently and coherently across the business. Organizations that better manage their
risks are usually stable. Organizations have learnt the hard way by waiting for
accidents to occur before they wake up.

Learning from accident is an expensive way of learning! Risk and Sustainability are
not mere buzz words. Does your organization have the necessary knowledge, tools
and technique to mitigate threats and explore opportunities?
