1. General
This user manual describes details of testing SEL751A relays with the OMICRON
Protection Test Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library
items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.

The template has been tested with the following relay:

Model: 751A

1.1 Supported Relays

The following relay types can be tested with the Protection Test Template:
SEL751A

2. Software and Hardware Requirements

To use this template, you must have a valid test license for the OMICRON Test Universe 3.01 software or
higher versions and the following test modules:
Control Center
Quick CMC
Overcurrent

Any CMC test set can be used with this Protection Test Template.

3. Hardware
The SEL751A relay can be connected with the CMC test set using the shown setup.

5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object already contains the SEL751A XRIO Converter, which includes setting parameters of
the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the
SEL5030 AcSELerator Quickset software.

The Filter for SEL 5030 txt Settings can be used for importing settings into the Relay Parameter
Section.

6. Test Template

6.1 Residual Ground and Neutral Ground Overcurrent tests

The Residual Ground Overcurrent elements are defined using the I0 option as their supervised current.
As the fault type for Residual Overcurrent tests is 3I0, the relative test points for testing the 51G1
characteristic are multiplied with 3. They are preset to 3.3, 3.9 and 4.5 times the I0 based 51G element
pickup value.
Neutral Ground Overcurrent elements are defined using IN as their supervised current. The fault type
used is A-N and the fault current is directly injected into the relays IN CT inputs.
This setup is used to clearly differentiate between Residual Ground and Neutral Ground Overcurrent
elements during testing.
