Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

a. illustrates null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, level of significance, rejection region, and
type of errors in hypothesis testing. CODE: M11/12 SP-Iva-1)
b. calculate the probabilities of committing a type 1 and type 2 error. CODE: M11/12SP-IVa-2

III. Learning Activities/Procedures

A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
2. Daily Routine (checking of attendance, others)
B. Review
Lead the students recalling of previous topics by asking the following questions:
1. What do you mean by estimation?
2. What is the difference between point estimator and interval estimator?
3. How to compute estimation of means for large and small samples?
4. How do we determine sample size?
C. Lesson Proper
1. Activity:
Let the students to watch video presentations about null and alternative hypothesis,
and Type 1 and Type 2 errors by Brandon Foltz. While listening and watching the videos,
they will answer the guide questions in the metacards provided to them. The following are
the guide questions found in their metacards.
a. What is the video 1 all about?
b. What do you think about hypothesis?
c. What are the examples presented in video 1?
d. What are the two types of hypothesis?
e. What do you mean by null and alternative hypotheses?
f. What is the video 2 all about?
g. What is meant by Type 1 and Type 2 errors?
h. When can we commit a type 1 and type 2 errors?
i. What is the formula use in calculating probability of committing a type 1 and type 2
errors?
2. Analysis
After watching the videos, they will go to their groups to further discuss their answers in
the given metacards. They will brainstorm and after that their common answers will be
written in the manila paper for presentation. Allow them to answer for 10 minutes and
remind each group that after the time allotted will be the reporting by group for a maximum
of 3 minutes. Remind also that each group should function accordingly as expected.
