Materials Needed:
One skein any color way Malabrigo Rios
Size US 7 knitting needle DPN's and circulars 24"
Stitch markers
Darning needle
Row counter ( optional)

Notes:
Tam is knitted from the top down

When instructed to slip stitches, slip as if to KNIT

If you decide add more rounds to the tam yarn requirements will vary.

Directions:
Cast on 6 stitches and join in the round (I used Emily Ockers Circular Cast On but which ever method you prefer would do)

Rows 1 and 2 Knit around

Row 3 (K1, yo ) every stitch 12 stitches total

Row 4 -6 Knit around

Row 7 (K1, yo ) every stitch 24 stitches total

Row 8 - 10 knit around

Row 11 (Kfb , yo) every stitch 72 stitches total

Row 12 to 14 Knit around

Row 15 * K3, skp , K3, yo * , rep from * to * to end

ROW 16 AND EVERY EVEN NUMBER ROW Knit around

Row 17 * K2, sk2p , K2, yo , K1, yo * , rep from * to * to end

Row 19 * K1, sk2p , K1, yo , K3, yo * , rep from * to * to end

Row 21 * sk2p , yo , k2tog , yo , K1, yo , skp , yo * , rep from * to * to end

Row 23 (K1, yo ) every stitch 144 stitches total

Knit next 4 rounds in stockinette stitch

If you wish to make the tam slouchier add more rounds here before decreasing

Then decrease stitches in half by knitting all stitches with k2tog around 144 stitches total
Knit 2 rounds or more depending where you'd like the tam to sit on your forehead

Decrease stitches to 80 stitches

Work in 2x2 rib for 1.5 - 2 inches
then bind off all stitches very loosely in pattern

Wet block Tam to stretch lacework

Be careful not to over stretch the ribbing
**And if you know you're a loose knitter consider going down a needle
size for the ribbed section. **

Leave to dry , weave in all ends and enjoy.... :-)
