Cyber security

Encryption is important.

Focus on symmetric and asymmetric Know the difference between the two

Never use the word two-key when you describe asymmetric.

USE TERM ONE KEY PAIR- WHERE IT CONTAIN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE
COMPONENTS.

Sender to receiver- Sender must encrypt using the public component of the one key
pair of the receiver. After encrypting send to public component of the receiver.
Receiver decrypt using the private component of the key pair.

Symmetric only use one key, between sender and receiver.

Privacy and ethics

FBI VS APPLE
DONT USE GOLDEN RULE.

ONLY ONE PRINCIPLE

- USE EITHER DECARTES or UTILITARIAN(Do actions with most value)/RISK

AVERSION(Action with least harm) (Most value is the same as least harm)

Decartes- Conclusion will be dont decrypt

U/RA- Conclusion can be both decrypt and dont decrypt. Depends if the highest
value is security or privacy.

CHOOSE ONE OUT OF THE 3 OPTIONS.

Hospital clinic concept (eg)

When do you need a foreign key? When one- is-to-many

When there are many-to-many, have an intersection table to make it 2 one-is-to-

many. 2 foreign key to make it the primary key.

Hardware

The emphasis is on the phenomenon.

Software

Pros and cons of clouds services vs on premise from the perspective of buyer and
seller. Seller- Why isit better for him to just sell licenses? Buyer- Why isit better for
him to rent rather than to buy/build?

Cloud computing is different from cloud ERP.

Cloud ERP is made possible because of cloud computing

Internet computing aka cloud computing: Computing done over the cloud.

Because of cloud, you can get ERP over the cloud. What else can we get over the
cloud? ERP is actually a software. What you can get over cloud ? SaaS, Haas,
PaaS, DataBase as a service. Security as a service. Infrastructure as a service (the
whole thing)

Cloud computing- through concept of Virtualisation. Make one computer appear as

though there are many. Or many computers appear as one.

Service providers with their data centres providing cloud as a service. (All the AAS)

Enterprise system

Adaptation vs Modification

Increasing many companies are complaining that standard off the shelf package do
not have the functionality they need

Standard off the shelf package- People just buy and use. (nothing unique), very
generic, dont have functionality that is tailored to the industry. (TOO GENERAL)

On premise (NOW)- Cloud and on premise (Too generic)

Build, house and manage

Buy, house and manage

Just Rent, housing and managing by the cloud service providers.

Last time was on premise, but everything is unique, tailored made to the company
need.

Now is not, it is a problem, not suited for company.

What can companies do?

Company can develop their own application system.

Company can customise the off the shelf package. But is it allowed? If buy can (pay
vendor to customize or you can get the source code to customize yourself, but if rent
cannot (No customization will be allowed)

Seminar 12 and 13, nature of questions are similar.

Discuss issues with technology when you implement an ERP system. Discuss if
managing stakeholders when implement this systems

When implement ERP, will have problems, one set with people and another set is
with technology.

Easier to manage technology than people. Implementation failed because you

cannot get the people to work, not because of technological issues. More problem
with people than technology.
Managing people Resistance/management

Non-people- technological issues eg. Infrastructure.

E-commerce

Question important

Concept of Intermediation (Disintermediation and Reintermediation)

Intermediate (In between suppliers and customers)

Suppliers to distributors to retailers to customers

Now dont need intermediaries thats why there are intermediations.

(Disintermediation)

Reintermediation- Want the intermediaries again, because company is so small (no

one go to the website to buy (E-COMMERCE)), a lot of companies have no traffic on
their website, piggyback on all the major companies that have traffic. The major
company becomes the intermediary. Not retailer or distributor. But major companies
website, and that is reintermediation)

Difference between search engine optimization (Two parts to it, one is the person
providing the search engine, must optimize engine through building an index which is
easily searchable by others. The other part is the advertiser, if want our company
name to come up when people search for related words, must do own search engine
optimisation, must make sure on our website we anticipate what kind of keywords
people will use to search. (Eg Google Adsearch and Google Adsense) so that our
result will always be infront) and search engine marketing (Use search engine to
advertise)

Discuss pros and cons of e-commerce vs brick and mortar (Buyer vs seller)
