Extra exam CT3330 - Hydraulic Structures 1

There will be an extra exam opportunity for the course CT/CIE3330 on Wednesday December 11th 2013, from 18.30 to
21.30 hour. Finishing the iCOZ test before the exam is required, therefore the iCOZ system will be made available for
students from October 22nd, up to Wednesday December 4th, 24.00 hour. To pass iCOZ the score needs to be at least 225
credits out of 500.

There are some special requirements limiting participation to this extra exam. It will be appreciated when students inform
the responsible lecturer about their possible participation in advance.

Course CME2001 - Master Thesis Preparation on 19 November 2013

Every quartile an introductory lecture will be given for your master thesis preparation. The lecture for Q2 in 2013-2014 will
be on 19 November - 10:45 - 12:30, room 4.99.

Contents:
This lecture will give you an overview of the steps you have take in order to make a good research proposal. This lecture is
based on the book Een onderzoek voorbereiden by H. Oost en A. Markenhof. Another good book to guide you through you
research preparation is Designing a Research Project by Verschuren and Doorewaard.

Context:
This lecture is part of your master thesis preparation.More information on preparing and executing your master thesis, see
Guideline Graduation Thesis. This guideline is available on Blackboard and at the secretarys office, mrs. Sandra
Schuchman, room 3.40.

Remember:
Prerequisite for your master thesis is that all compulsory courses, elective courses, internships or multidisciplinary project
should be finished. Requests for dispensation from this prerequisite can be send by letter to the CME director of Operation,
Jules Verlaan.

Study goal:
After this lecture you will be better able to:
- Prepare a research proposal that is meets the standards for the master thesis kick-off meeting.

Committee and commission members wanted.


Students who want to get more out of their study can be on the committee board of the Betondispuut, this can be done
together with your study. The Betondispuut connects the students with each other and with companies through lunch
lectures, project visits and study trips. Some of the advantages of a committee function at the Betondispuut are:
A good addition on your CV, you will learn a lot, get connected with companies and receive a study grant.

Announcement final presentation multidisciplinary project in Hanoi,


Vietnam

In the past two months 5 students Hydraulic Engineering performed a project for the Water Resources University in Hanoi,
Vietnam. The project included the formulation of 22 graduation topics related to Water Management and Hydraulic
Engineering, a field research and the elaboration of two of those graduation topics as reference for the Vietnamese
students.

All students and lecturers that are interested in how things work out in Vietnam, how hydraulic structure are constructed
there (with a lot of photos), the solution that we proposed, or who is just curious about our abroad experience is warmly
welcome at Friday the 8th of November at 12:30 in lecture room F. The presentation will be held in Dutch.
