AbstractThis paper presents the design and validation of a
voltage controller for a synchronous generator using the Model V
proposed by Opal RT for the controller design process, which
mainly uses the Model in The Loop (MIL) and Rapid Control
Prototyping (RCP) in real time. To achieve the objective a dc
motor - synchronous generator group, available at the Power
Electronics Laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering
and Computing FIEC, is used, as well as a real - time simulator
of Opal - RT, available at the Power Systems Laboratory of the
same faculty in ESPOL. Mathematical modeling of each part of
the plant (prime group dc motor - synchronous generator
mechanically coupled to the axis) was carried out to proceed with
the corresponding simulations in real time according to Model V,
using the Matlab-Simulink simulation platform and RT-Lab
