Introduction

OBE Toolkit - Onboard Embedded Parameters Configurator (Timekeeper)

The OBE Toolkit is an application to manage the configuration parameters and analysis of the AVLS
embedded equipment - Efacec Timekeeper.

This application is used by operators and maintenance personal with advanced knowledge in AVLS
systems.

System requirements
Minimum requirements to use the application

o Application work on Operating System Windows XP / 7,


o 20 MB free disk,
o Administrator Permission on the Laptop / Workstation,
o OB Computer(s) with AVLS embedded application connected,
o Console(s) with AVLS embedded application connected.

Instalation

Requirements for the installation

o Run in the local drive the file ObeToolkitSetup.exe

Setup

Select Setup Language

Select from Portuguese, English, Spanish, French or Norwegian the language used in the installation
setup.

Warning: the language to use during the installation will be the same at the first time of the startup
application.

Installation - start of setup installation

Close all other applications and click Next to proceed with the installation setup.

Warning: You must uninstall any previous version of the OBE Toolkit Application before install a new
one.

Installation - selecting the Destination folder location of OBE Toolkit

Select the target folder where the application will be installed and click next to continue the setup of
installation.

Installation - Add application icon on the desktop

Select if you want to create a desktop shortcut icon for the application.

Installation - Ready to install

Check the options and then click install to begin the installation of the application.

Installation - Finalize and launch the application

Click Finish to close the installation setup. If you do not want to launch the application immediately do not
select the option to ' Launch OBE Toolkit

Files of the application OBE Toolkit

The application is located by default in the following folder structure: "C:\Program Files\OBE Toolkit" (can
be changed during installation).

The next table shows a brief description of each file installed in the application folder:

ObeToolkit.exe File application to launch the OBE Toolkit.

language.txt Language file of the application.

saelogparser.exe Log processing application.

Telnet.exe Application to open the Telnet console.

unins000.exe Uninstall application file.

unins000.dat Uninstall application data file.

Login / Password
Login Application (User/Password)

As the profile that you use to login on the application you will access to the following options:

Profile
user= Administrator user
Download Configuration settings
Software Update
Real-time Information
Force the clock setting (SNTP)
Test Sound File

Activate LCD Console

Force the diagnosis of TAG reader

Resets (CPU, Tag Reader)

Download Log Files

Save Configurations to the equipment

Simulate equipments (TAG, Odometer)

Modify Parameters

Close Application (Console, CB)

Download Log Files (timed)

After the correct login and discover of the equipments the the interface will be show like the following
picture (Menu Toolbar, Equipments, Events, Transfer windows and Status Bar)

Auto Search

Manual and Auto Search of the equipments

Auto search / Start 'Auto Search'

Search automatically the equipments that are connected on the same network (LAN).

During the Auto search process wait for the complete reading of the equipments as the following figure.

Automatic Search Timeout of the equipments

Select the option ' Auto search Timeout ' to set the timeout value (seconds) to stop the find of the
equipments (2000 ms by default).

IP address of equipment (Manual search)

Select the option ' Search By IP Address ' to indicate the IP address you want to connect.

Warning: this option can be used when you have IP communications to the equipment but is not
available on the application equipment list.

IP address error (Manual search)

If you enter a wrong format address the following message appears.

Offline

Offline Options

Offline mode allows you to perform some operations without connection to the equipment.

Offline

Access to Menu options in offline mode of equipment (Passwords, Open configuration, log processor)

Change Password

Select ' Change password' to change the current password in use.

Restore factory password

If you select the option 'Restore factory password' will appear the following information.

Exit / Language
Menu / Toolbar buttons

Exit

Quit or exit of the application.

Languages

Select the flag icon to change the language of the OBE Toolkit application (Portuguese, English, French,
Spanish or Norwegian).

Attention: upon exiting the application will be saved the last selected language until you run again
the OBE Toolkit.

CB
On-board Computer operations (CB)

Select the equipment with the right button of the mouse to see the possible operations on the CB:

o Change the IP address, subnet Mask, or Default Gateway of the CB,


o Open a Telnet communication window to CB,
o Download the CB configuration to a folder created with the IP of the equipment,
o Download the log files from the CB to the folder created with the IP of the equipment,

o Download CB Log files at the end of every predefined time,


o Open an existing configuration file locally on the PC,
o Real-time information of the CB,
o Update the Software of the CB (select the local source folder with the localization of the files
that will be update to the CB),
o Force time synchronization with the NTP server,
o Test an audio file by sending the code/ID to the CB,
o Program a new radio group (Tetra),
o Force the TAG reader diagnostic,
o Simulate a Tag Reading, sending a code/ID to the CB,
o Activate Reverse Signal,
o Restart the active application on the CB,
o Close the Console application (only available in some versions),
o Start the Console application only available in some versions),
o Reset TAG Reader,
o Reset CPU (30 seconds to start the reset process).

Change the IP Address (LAN)

Select the option to change the IP address (LAN) and modify the current configuration of the CB (IP, mask
and Gateway). This option only takes effect after the reboot to the equipment (Reset CPU).

Download LOG Files

Select this option to start the instant download of Log files to a folder created with the IP address locally
(transfers)

Download LOG Files (Timed)

If you select the timer should indicate the minimum interval between updates - at least 5minutes)

To finalize and cancel the timed download LOG files to the PC, select the equipment and remove the
selection in the the MenuBar.

Real-Time Information

To update the data from the equipment select the Refresh option with right mouse button.

Software Update

Select the folder with the localization files to update to the CB.

Change Configuration parameters

Change or Create a new parameter on the CB configuration selecting the field with right mouse button.

Attention: the option to create a new parameter in the CB may cause errors in the operation of
embedded applications.

Select the parameter to change and click OK or cancel the operation.

Upload, Download , Open or Save the configuration

Open and Save the current configuration to the local PC/laptop. Download and Unload the configuration
from/to the equipment.

Test sound file

Enter the desired Sound ID and click in the OK to send the playback order of this sound file in the
CB/vehicle.

New voice Group (Tetra)

Enter the new voice group and click OK.

Simulate Tag Reading

Enter the tag code of the intended ID you want to simulate and click OK.

Simulate Odometer

Enter the desired value in meters and click OK to simulate the odometer reading.

Reset CPU

After you select the option to Reset the CPU it will appear the following message (the equipment starts the
Reboot controlled after 30 seconds).

Console
Operations in the Console

Selecting the equipment list right-click we can see possible carrying out operations on the console:

o Change the IP address, subnet Mask, or Default Gateway of the Console.


o Open a Telnet communication window of the Console.
o Activate the LCD/Screen on the console, even if there's no sign of active cabin.
o Download the configuration from the console to a folder created with the IP of the equipment.
o Open an existing configuration file locally on the PC.
o Update the Software on the console (indicate the source folder where the update files are
located on the console).
o Close the active Console application

Change the IP Address (LAN)

Select the option to change the IP address (LAN) and modify the current configuration of the Console (IP,
mask and Gateway). This option only takes effect after the reboot to the equipment.

Open Telnet Console

Select this option to open a Telnet console window of the selected equipment.

Activate the LCD

Select this option to open the LCD of the console even if the cabin is not active.

Download the equipment configuration

When you download the configuration or open an existing file locally, a new window will be available with
the parameters of the equipment and, with the right mouse button, will be able to:

Upload the local configuration to the Console equipment.


Download the configuration of the console to the PC.
Open a local file from PC.
Save the configuration file locally in your PC.

Changing parameters in Console

Selecting with the right mouse in the parameter it is possible to change or create a new item in the
Console.

Attention: the option to create a new entry under CB equipment or console may cause errors in the
operation of embedded applications.

Software Update

Select the folder with the localization files to update to the Console.

Complete Console Application

Select this option to terminate the active application on the console/IHM

Attention: the option to close the active Console application causes the end of the connection to the
OBE Toolkit application, until the restore of the application on the console.

Events
Event window

In the event window will be recorded all the actions taken by the user during the use of the OBE Toolkit.

Attention: these events are not recorded in a Log file and will no be available after exiting the
application.

Transfers

Transfers window

Select the desired transfer and with the right mouse button open the respective folder file in the PC.

Check in the column ' State transfer "the possible States of the operation (OK, Pendant, NOK).

Select the desired transfer AND with the right mouse button open the respective folder of the downloaded
file in the PC or try again the transfer operation in case of failure.

Status Bar
Status Bar Window

Click in the mouse button on the current path to change the destination folder of the transfer files in your
PC.

In this window it is also possible to view:

the login in use,


the version of the application,
timeout time of the automatic search set,
Current local time/date.
