To Whom It May Concern: Novant Health Nursing Recruiter

Hello, I am graduating this December from the College of Nursing at The University of Arizona. I am
writing to express my interest in becoming a part of your New Graduate program at Forsyth Medical
Center and specifically in the Labor and Delivery Unit. I became aware of your facility through
researching top ranked Labor and Delivery units in the Winston-Salem area, and was struck by your
focus on the patient, team members, and community. My experiences in maternal child health
education and professional development have led to my interest in womens health and launching my
nursing career in a facility that excels in providing evidence based care, and promoting the health of
women. I aspire to educate, empower, and care for women through compassionate health care.

My special interest in womens health is what led me to apply to the nursing program at The University
of Arizona. I am currently in my fourth semester in the nursing program and recently finished my 5-
week preceptorship at Banner University Medical Center Tucson on their Labor and Delivery Unit. I
worked side-by-side with a seasoned labor and delivery nurse where I advanced in taking on her patient
load. My time during this preceptorship enabled me to grow exponentially as a nurse and solidified my
desire to work in womens health. To this end, I recently completed my honors thesis through The
University of Arizona Honors College concerning evidence based non-pharmacologic pain
interventions for labor and provided suggestions on how to educate women on these interventions via a
pamphlet which I created.

I am excited to begin my career as a nurse and make my way through the womens and newborn health
care world. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you and discuss how I can be an asset to
Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Sincerely,

Sydney Reed
