1. What is the topic of your lesson?. Economics ; Currency

2. Why are you teaching this lesson? What is your rationale for teaching it?
This lesson is an Arts integration lesson that fits into the students unit leading up
to their Business Bonanza in December. The creation of the money will allow the
students to think critically about our economics system and have a currency to
trade and earn in the upcoming weeks.

3. What is your Teaching Behavior Focus? Why did you choose this?
Learners interests and experiences are acknowledged and integrated into
discussion. This will be an important part of this lesson as I know many of my
students have experiences with currency from different countries and this will add
to their creation of their own second grade money and the symbols that they
choose to select.

4. Why did you design your instruction in this lesson the way that you did?
Why did you choose this way of teaching the lesson (e.g., Was the idea
from a methods course? From your mentor teacher? Another source?)
This lesson format was given to me and modified to best fit the needs of our
learners in cooperation with my mentor teacher. The other two second grade
classrooms also taught this lesson and it needed to yield the same result as the
whole grade participates in the unit.

5. As you are thinking through this lesson, what do you believe will be the
most challenging part of this lesson for you when you teach it? Why? I
think that the arts concept will be the most challenging part of this lesson for me.
I am learning this art standard with my students and do not view myself as the
most artistic person.
6. How will you know if your learning outcomes for the students are met
successfully? If the students successfully can generate a rubric for their design
and create a product that has all of these discussed components.

7. How will your classroom management support the learning outcomes

Maintaining a strong classroom climate will ensure that all students have a voice
and feel comfortable sharing their ideas and perspectives. The students will also
need to vote on their favorite work and will need to be respectful when looking at
the work of their peers.
8. List 1-3 areas which you would like for your observer to pay particular
attention. Why do you want your observer to focus on these areas?
Paying attention to the students experiences but not letting this sharing get out of
hand. Time management. This is a very involved lesson and needs to completed on
this one day in order to keep the unit progressing.

9. Is there anything else you would like your observer to know before the
observation?
