Part 1: Adding , subtracting, and multiplying in base- 5 and base -12

Adding base 5
When adding base five we have to remember if the digit lands on the 5 then that 5 will convert
into the next number leaving the 5 out and moving on to the next number
For example using this set up:

1,2,3,4 skips 5 and now it turns into 10 five

now it looks like this
1,2,3,4,10five
then the number after 10five will be 11, so now it looks like:
1,2,3,4,10five
11,12,13,14,20five (see no five)
21,22,23,24,30five
41,42,43,44,50 no fives remember so now it will go to the next number being 100
no 50 therefore now it become 100five
Example 1:

What number goes before 200?

(before) (after) because it can't be 150 because of the five

Example 2:

What goes after?

213 , 214five no five, but if it was a five for instance after 334 it would be 340 because
again no five so the next number will be 340

 Now to add using blocks by base five

5 units = 1 long
5 long = 1 flat
5 flat= 1 cube

Example 1:

3 five + 2 five

= 5 units ,but remember 5 units equal 1 long

Which will now look like this 1 long 0 units= 10 five
Example2:

23five + 12five

(1 long 1 long 3 units) (1 long 2 units)

3 long and 5 units ( remember 5 units equal 1 flat) whick now makes it to equal to 1 flat
3 long + 1 long= 4 long
=40 five
 Adding Base 12
For base 12 it changes how the number are set
E twelve= 11 Units
T twelve= 10 units
so now we will be going by 12
so now its,
12 units= 1 long
12 long= 1 flat

Example 1:
E twelve + T twelve
11+ 10
=21 so now group by 12 or can use this method
21 divided by 12
21/12= 1 long and remainder 9units
Now it looks like this =19 twelve
Example 2:

EE Twelve + 2E

(11) LONG (11)UNITS + 2 LONG(11)UNITS

yellow represents one group of longs and green

represents units

= 1 flat because of the 12 long and 2 longs

because one long is left over plus 12 units equal 1 long and 10 units are left which turns into 1
flat 2 long 10units and 10 units change into T now your answer is 12T
