FACULTY SELF-APPRAISAL REPORT
(The purposes of evaluation are described in Article 12 of the VCCCD Agreement)

Location: Oxnard

This form is your self-appraisal report, which is designed to record your own assessment of your
performance. Provide this completed form to the division office before the committee meeting. The
primary purpose of evaluation is to assist in the continuous improvement of faculty performance in
service to the students and the District.

This form should be completed and forwarded to your dean. Use of electronic word processing to
complete this form is recommended. Space is provided below for each topic/question. If additional
space is required, a blank page has been added at the end of this document.

1. List those activities and/or recent accomplishments which have contributed to your professional
growth. For example, courses you have recently taken, participation in professional associations,
conferences or workshops you have attended, papers you have delivered or published, community
involvement, etc.
1. Attended every day of Flex Week in August, 2016, including the four-day new faculty orientation.
Workshops attended include SLO Assessment, CurriUNET, OC Management Team, Participatory
Governance, Bulletproofing your Syllabus, Electronic Field Trip Process, Project ALAS, College and
District Policies, Online Teaching Strategies, and ASSIST for Faculty

2. Presented as part of the Canvas Early Adopters Panel during Flex Week.

3. Attended workshop on differentiated instruction offered at Santa Monica College in October,
2016.

4. Successfully proposed AA-T in Art History through CurricUNET, working with relevant staff;
included presentation to the Curriculum Committee.

5. Collaborated with Prof. Morla on Art component of Visual and Performing Arts showcase.

6. Presented paper titled "Natural Disasters in Antiquity and their (Long-term) Cultural Impacts" as
part of a panel on Natural Disasters and Culture at CSUCI.

2. Cite the goals and plans for professional improvement you listed in your last self-assessment report
and describe how you accomplished those goals and plans, or why you did not.
Goal 1: Gaining proficiency in Canvas so that I can launch and develop robust art history offerings in
online and hybrid forms. I accomplished this goal through training and certification. This allowed me

to be an early adopter of Canvas in Summer 2016, when I taught both online and hybrid forms of Art
R101. I am now iterating those courses as hybrids in Fall 2016.

Goal 2. Develop expertise, curricular knowledge and pedagogical strategies in modern and
contemporary art and art of the americas. I accomplished this goal through development of Art
R103 in Fall 2016. I will continue to deepen my knowledge and teaching strategies in this subject
area in Spring 2017 with Art R103 as well as Art R171 (Survey of Modern Art). Art of the Americas
will be broached in 2017-2018.

3. What are your goals and plans for professional improvement during the next three years, and how
would you successfully completing these goals improve your success in working with students.

1. Continue to develop knowledge and skill in Canvas in order to provide best possible online and
hybrid versions of Art History courses at OC.
2. Continue to develop knowledge and expertise in range of Art History subject areas, including
modern and contemporary art, art of the Americas, and non-Western art. These are all areas that
need to be developed for a successful Art History program at OC.
3. Develop and incorporate museum-based experiences in Art History in order to provide OC
students with direct experience of artwork, museums as institutions, and the application of Art
History skills outside the classroom.
