Personality 1 - Harvey Specter | Show - Suits

ATTITUDE

Cognitive (Thinking) I am the smartest guy in this place, rest of the people working
in the office are dummies. They do not possess the level of skills that I have.
Affective (Feeling) A sense of superiority over others, therefore treat others
Behavioural (Behaviour) Harvey is ruthless in his approach & is considered arrogant
by majority of the people in his office

JOB SATISFACTION

Harvey Specter is always striving for more, wants to reach the top of the charts. He is very
loyal to his organization but always wants more. To reach at the top ranks of the organization
he even goes to the extent of somewhat conspiring against his own boss.

Loyalty Harvey takes this term very seriously, there was once a scenario in which he gets a
piece of information from his assistant Mike way after the situation had lost its significance.
The situation could have had big implications all around. Harvey feels cheated when he gets to
know more about what was being hidden from him & in return starts ignoring Ross altogether.

WORK ATTITUDE

Affective Desire to Remain

Harvey had a deep connection to the firm which he was working with & therefore wanted to
strive on further & reach the top of the organization, although he threatened his boss to leave,
but his true intentions were different altogether. He was willing to go & take any measure in
order to reach the top.

Thinking vs Feeling
Thinking Harvey always kept himself detached from all the emotions, it was very
hard to dig out his emotions. He was a total idealist & kept his emotional connect only
to few people.

Sensing vs Intuition
Intutive Harvey is not conventional, & never goes for rewards straight away like
others. Harvey follows his own rules. This implied that Harvey was Intuitive. He even
goes as far as to hire Mike Ross, a person without a Harvard Degree against the policies
of the company.

Judging Harvey doe s not like to beat around the bush. He is very unconventional but
not at all sloppy, is punctual as well. Harvey was a very judgemental person as well &
always let others know what he thinks about him/her on an individual level.

Extravert vs Introvert
Extravert The job of a lawyer is not easy, throughout his career Harvey had to meet
with loads of important personalities. If Harvey had been an introvert, it would have
been difficult for him to build a career as a lawyer. But this wasnt the case, Harvey had
a firm grip over his language & never stuttered or think twice before speaking (he was
that confident). Harvey fears absolutely nothing.

Harvey was high on this parameter as well, he was always open to explore new
horizons. Harvey was an individual who kept on striving forward towards success, he
had a hunger for it

Harvey was low on this attribute. Once a thought gets framed in his mind, Harvey is
not willing to let it go & sticks to his point. Whatever the case may be.

Harvey is a very reliable & dependable person. Once you get close to him emotionally
he is willing to do anything in order to save you from any situation.

Harvey is definitely the guy who thinks that the ends can justify means, he is willing to
step out of his shoes whenever he thinks is necessary. If an individual is going out of limits
then Harvey will definitely stick it out to him.

Harvey is definitely high on this aspect too, he thinks that He is the smartest of them all
& there is nobody alive who is capable of beating him.

Harvey is high on this attribute, he does not like outside forces to take control over him
which he clearly states many times during the show. He controls what is happening
around to him & therefore tries to have a control over all the forces which might affect
him.

Emotional stability(HIGH)
Harvey, for real is a really emotional person, but as life goes on he realises that if an
individual shows everyone that that he/she cares then everyone will start walking all
over that person and use him/her to their advantage. Therefore, he shows everyone that
he is a ruthless person with no scope for an emotional connect. All this because it was
better off for him in the long run.

Harvey is a fearless individual, not willing to miss any opportunity he was ready to
pounce on anything that was within or sometimes even out of his reach. This implies
that Harvey was a risk taker.

Harvey Specter was high on this attribute, he wanted to keep being appreciated by his
boss throughout the show, & even showed discontent when he thought that his efforts
were not leading to the desired rewards. Once he even expressed his discontent to his
boss but that turned into a heated argument between the two parties.

Harvey was high on this attribute as well, he wanted to control the actions of others.
We can say that Harvey wanted to influence actions of others according to his will.

Harvey did not believe in being loved by others & did not like to be unnecessarily
related with people. That did not mean that he was an introvert, but he thought that
relationships made an individual vulnerable overall & therefore discarded all those
feelings.

Harvey believes that risk taking is everything & one cannot achieve anything if he aims low.
Therefore he keeps on striving forward searching for more, looking for any opportunities
available which can help him to test & hone his skills.

First Impression (Importance)


Harvey thought that first impression was the last one. He explains this to his assistant
Ross, that if he wants to grow & hone his skills as an individual he has to have a good,
long-lasting impression on every new individual he meets in his daily course of action
because that is what people generally recall.

Halo effect
Harvey gave all the weightage to the personality & physical attributes of a person.
Based on this he evaluated how an individual actually was, hence he was biased in
evaluating individuals.
Personality 2: Mr. Narendra Damodaras Modi | Prime Minister of INDIA| Politician

Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician who is


the 14th and current Prime Minister of India, in office since May 2014. He was the Chief
Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi,
a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is a Hindu nationalist and member of the right-
wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

WORK ATTITUDE

Parliamentary performance:
Modi didnt go to Parliament like Vajpyaee, Advani, Indira Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi, as an
ordinary member.

He went like a conqueror who bowed down to the magnificence of the monument as part of
the theatrics of his victory march.
The acceptance speech at the parliamentary party meet was also a solo performance. The
motion of thanks to the presidential address was his first real address to parliamentarians.

Once Modi gets used to parliamentary exchanges, he could be a different performer. Not
someone who speaks only to a crowd of fanatic followers but a leader who can engage with
equals

Perception management:

No contemporary politician has mastered the art of perception management as well as


Narendra Modi.

Despite the tension within the party and his many detractors in the Gujarat BJP, he was able
to extract the most out of this situation and maximise his image as the biggest Hindutva hero.

PERSONALITY AND BEHAVIOUR AT WORK:

Fearless: He never gets afraid of any situation. He is the only politician in India
who has been targeted by all the parties (including his own party BJP during 2012
elections) but he never compromises on his terms. Medias favourite controversy
child- MODI always says his MANN KI BAAT and that makes him most
vulnerable politician as far as controversy is concerned, but again that is what
make him a great politician.

Humility: He has become PM of the nation like India- he leads more than 1 billion
people but still he is humble like a chai wala, he still respects his mother, his roots,
loves to play with children. He has been labelled with words like dictator, arrogant,
psychopath and what not but still he is humble and courteous to his nation.
Public Speaking Skills
The man has something in his voice that makes head turn. Even the people who don't
happen to like him have agreed that they never miss a speech by the Indian Prime
Minister. And we can't even say that this all is because of someone who writes his
speeches, as the Independence Day saw him speaking without any written speeches,
and this sure is going to be one of the most remembered speeches from an Indian PM.

Patience
After fool proof planning, which leads to his confidence, he is not a man who can be
impatient and jump on to conclusions or be restless for results. This patience and the
tendency of keeping his calm and not behaving like a kid has proved to be very useful
for him. It's a hard sight to see the man angry, overpowered by emotions, or losing his
patience. Narendra Modi is calm and composed and does not let the storms and crises
affect him.

Leadership Skills.
He promised to work one hour more than his subordinates did in a public speech. This
is not something an inefficient leader would be able to say. He is an efficient leader
and leads by his words. He appreciates those who work hard by monitoring their
performance on day to day basis.

Discipline
This is one thing which everyone should learn and realize from him. From the days of
being a bal-swayamsevak in RSS to now as being the prime minister of India, Modi has
never left his discipline regimen. Modi proves that he has no tolerance for laid-back
attitude, and he wants all his cabinet ministers on toes for the progress of the country.

Enthusiasm
At the age of 64, passion and dedication of Narendra Modi are worth mentioning. He
plays drums in Japan and answers questions in interviews with confidence and vigour.
He becomes a source of inspiration and motivation for his team members which draws
the trust out of them and encourage them to work harder to achieve their targets.
Excellent Oratorical Skills
Time and again Mr. Narendra Modi has shown excellent oratorical skills by
captivating his audience with spell binding talks of development and clarity of visions
on issues such as foreign policy, development, national security etc. His ability to
sway audiences relies mostly on his impromptu his speeches without reading from a
pre- written script practised mostly by other leaders and the connection he establishes
with the audiences by involving them depending upon the type of audiences he is
addressing like youth, women, rural and urban.

Determination
Ever since he was a child who used to help his father and brother in their tea stalls, he
was determined to make it big for himself. He has been associated with RSS since an
early age, and that shows the determination that eight-year old possessed and this 64-
year-old possesses.

Humbleness
Even though he is the Prime Minister of world's largest democracy, his position has not
gone to his head. He comes across as a very humble human being and this is evident by
the way he addresses the nation and answers all the questions he is put across. Being
humble can take you places and this is also something to learn from him.

Personality 3 - Ranbir Kapoor | Movie Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year

In this video, we can see that Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor) works day and night
to complete the orders. This shows his dedication towards his work and fulfilling the
orders on time.
Harpreet says a dialogue in the last, Risk to Spiderman ko bhi lena padta hai. This
shows that he is risk averse.
Harpreet scores high on conscientiousness as he is highly dependable and responsible.
He is ready to sell his scooter to pay double the amount of contract. He is also shown
to be working on the order even in the night, which shows that he can be relied on.
Harpreet is shown to be extravert, as he is full confident in talking to the person, he
meets for the first time.
He is a good team leader who knows how to handle a team as we can see how his friends
are also working with him with full dedication to complete the project.

In this scene, Harpreet is giving the interview for a job of salesman at AYS Pvt. Ltd.
This scene particularly shows the attitude of Harpreet.
Even though, Harpreet is not that good in academics, he certainly has some very good
skills required for the job of a salesman. He does not give up and tries really hard to
sell the pencil to the interviewer.
The CEO of AYS selects Harpreet for the job as he sees the attitude of Harpreet of not
giving up, which should be there in every salesman as convincing the customers is not
easy.
It also shows the positive attitude of Harpreet towards the job as he does not leave even
after the interviewer asks him to leave. It shows that he is high on the quality of job
involvement.

Harpreet starts his own Rocket Sales Corporation from within the AYS Corporation
secretly, when he comes to know about an unethical practice within the company, where
salesmen bribed to win the customers. But, Harpreet is honest and this leads to his
demotion. But, when Rocket Sales Corporation becomes successful, the CEO of AYS
pressurises Harpreet and purchases the company for Re. 1. But AYS is unsuccessful in
continuing it and it turns to be a huge failure for them.
In this video, the CEO of AYS comes to Harpreet to give his company back to him. We
see that Harpreet rejects the offer. He says that business is about its people and not
about the numbers.
This shows that Harpreet is a very good leader who gives importance to his employees.
He is also very good salesman as he places his customers first and work according to
the needs of his customers.
His behaviour is just opposite to his boss, as the boss has always focused on the profits
rather than his employees or customers.

In scene 2, we see the inter- departmental conflict. The sales team thinks that a big order
is received because of them, whereas, the service team takes credit to themselves.
Harpreet believes that it is the hard work of both the teams. This shows that Harpreet
believes in team work. Harpreet can be a very good leader due to this quality of his.
The scene also shows that boss believes in Harpreet as he is taking the advice from him.
Scene 4 shows the creativeness of Harpreet as he comes up with a new idea to reduce
the cost. It also focuses on the confidence of Harpreet on his idea and his focus on
customer service as he says the dialogue honge koi apne jaise hi.
Scene 6 shows the late delivery problems prevailing in AYS Corporation. As the service
deliverymen were falling short and the company did not have the funds to hire more
deliverymen, Harpreet is given the job of delivery of services. Harpreet is being abused
by his boss, but then also he agrees to do the job. This shows the dedication of Harpreet
towards the organisation. He also does not see any job as big or small and treats all jobs
equally, as he does not argue even once that the job does not suit his current position in
the organisation.

Affective (Feeling) A sense of belongingness who work in cooperation with others
and passionate about work.
Behavioural (Behaviour) Harry loves to interact with people and often invites people
to his home over dinner to establish personal relations.

JOB ATTITUDES

Job Satisfaction (Low) He loves his job though this component is little low as he
keeps on aspiring for more money and power.
Job Involvement (High) This component is high as he is passionate about his work
and does not fall back even in case of challenges.
Organisational commitment (High) He believes in his organisational goals and works
continuously to align his goals with that of organisation.

Extraverted He is extremely sociable, outgoing who loves to enjoy with his colleagues
going out and inviting them for dinner.
Sensing He is practical and really sensitive towards every situation and handles every
situation in an extremely effective manner.

judgment to handle every situation rationally.
Perceiving He is flexible and never falls back to adjust with the environment in order
