Malfunction or damage caused by improper use or man-made failure.

Compatibility
Click [Help]->[About UltraAssist] on the upper screen to check the current version of the UltraAssist.
Due to compatibility of the Network Protocol used in the UltraAssist, UltraAssist needs to be used in
accompany with certain versions of the ultrasound system, as shown below:
For version 2.0 of UltraAssist, compatible products are: DC8 V3.0 and higher versions, DCN3 V2.0 and higher
versions, Z5 V2.0 and higher versions, Z6 V2.0 and higher versions and DC1 V1.0 and higher versions.
For version 1.0 of UltraAssist, products excluded the above mentioned versions are compatible.

Installation & Connection
1. Make sure that the computer (on which you intend to install UltraAssist) and the ultrasound
system are both connected into a LAN.
2. Insert the CD into the CD/DVD drive.

3. Find the setup file for UltraAssist , double click it to open the file and follow the
instructions on screen to install UltraAssist.
Note: during installation, you may have to install QT tool, please follow the prompts to install the tool.
4. Select destination folder and click [Next].

5. Click [Finish] to exit setup.

iStorage
UltraAssist can send images, report or patient data to the ultrasound system in a LAN.
1. Make sure that the computer (on which you installed UltraAssist) and the ultrasound system are
both connected into a LAN.
2. Setting in ultrasound system:
a) Open [Setup]->[Network Preset]->[iStorage] screen;
b) Enter service name, port and IP address of UltraAssist installed computer, and click
[Connect] to verify connection;
c) Click [Add] to add the configured service to the Service list.
3. Setting in UltraAssist installed computer:
a) Open UltraAssist, click [Settings]->[iStorage Port] on the upper left corner to check the
port, which must be consistent with that in the ultrasound system.
Click [iStorage] tab to enter the page and fill in information:
Machine Name: name of the ultrasound system.
IP Address: IP address of the ultrasound system.
Directory: saving path for receiving files from ultrasound system.
b) Click [OK] to confirm the setting and add the service to the list.
4. Perform exams in ultrasound system. Enter iStation, select exam or images to send, and select the
destination in the dialogue box to be iStorage (take DC-8 as an example). For details about send to
function in ultrasound system, please refer to the ultrasound system operators manual *Basic
Volume].

Tips: if iStorage setting is not finished on UltraAssist installed computer, click [Connect] in the page
*Setup+->[Network Preset]->*iStorage+of the ultrasound system will lead to the following dialogue
box prompted on the computer screen:

(1) Click [Yes] to import the IP address and service name of the ultrasound system into UltraAssist
service list.

(2) Click by the Directory box, and select saving path.


(3) Click [OK] to add the service to the Service list.

iMeasurement
You can create user-defined measurement tools by UltraAssist.

User-defined Measurement Item


1. Open UltraAssist in computer, click [iMeasurement] tab.
2. Click [New Measure] to pop up the following dialogue box. Set the following parameters.

Description of the items in the dialog box is shown in the following table.
Item Description
Name Measurement item name.
General measurement tool type of the user-defined item.
Tool Type For example, select Area if you want to add a new item to measure the
area.
Region Application region for the measurement item.
Left/Right If selected, you can choose left or right side in the measurement menu.
If selected, you can choose proximal, middle or distal in the
Proximal/Middle/Distal
measurement menu.
3. Click [OK] to finish the setting. The user-defined measurement item appears in the main screen
list.

User-defined Calculation Item
The user-defined calculation derived from the result value of measurement or calculation item.
1. Open UltraAssist in computer, click [iMeasurement] tab.
2. Click [New Calculation] to pop up the following dialogue box. Set the following parameters.

Item Description
Name Calculation item name.
Region Application region for the calculation item.
Unit Type Unit used for the calculation.
Formula Displays the user-defined formula.
Verify Verifies the input value.
View Type Mode in which the calculation item is used.
Item Type Type for the calculation item.

Select Item Name All available measurement items in the


Formula application region selected in the previous
Referenced step.
Item Result Name & Unit Type Sets the Unit and the name of result.
Double click to add to the formula.
Calculator Inputs numbers in the formula.
For example, to create a user-defined measurement item (HC/AC).
a) Enter name for the item, like HC/AC.

b) Select Region to be Obstetric, select View Type to be 2D and Item Type to be
Measurement.
c) Find HC in the Item Name list, double-click HC in Result Name box on the right side, and
then index goes into the formula.
d) Select Calculator to be / and it goes into the formula.
e) Find AC in the Item Name list, double-click AC in Result Name box on the right side, and
then index goes into the formula.
3. Verify the formula and select the unit and range of the result, click [OK] to finish and the item will
be displayed in the list.

Editing User-defined Measurement/Calculation


Item
You can edit or delete user-defined measurement/calculation item in UltraAssist.
1. Click right button of the mouse on a user-defined item in iMeasurement page.
2. Click left button of the mouse in the popped up menu to select:
Edit: click to edit the item, for details, please refer to User-defined Measurement/Calculation Item.
Delete: click to delete the item.
Export: click to save the item in another path.
Send to: click to send to the ultrasound system with specified IP address.

Sending iMeasurement Item


1. Finish measurement/calculation item definition in UltraAssist.
2. Click [Send To] to pop up the dialogue box.
3. Enter the IP address of the ultrasound machine and click [OK] to send.
4. UltraAssist prompts the sending is successful.
In the ultrasound system(take DC-8 as an example):
1. The system will prompt you that a user-defined measurement is received; click [OK] to receive.
2. Select the application region for the user-defined item and click [OK] to finish. Then the
measurement/calculation item is imported to the available items.

3. Enter *Setup+->[Measurement Preset]->*Measure+ page, select region and *User-defined] to check
received items.

To delete user-defined items on the ultrasound system: click to select the item, and click [Delete]
on the right.
Note: After user-defined calculation item is imported into the ultrasound system, it cannot be
configured into measurement package, but as long as the item related measurements are finished,
result window and report will display the result automatically. For example, import user-defined
calculation item A(A=B+C) into the ultrasound system and perform measurements of B and C, then
you can check A result in both result window and report.

Importing/ Exporting User-defined Items
1. After you finish measurement/calculation item definition in UltraAssist, click [Export] to save the
item into the removable storage device.
2. Connect the removable storage device to the ultrasound system.
3. In the ultrasound system, open [Setup]->[Measure Preset] page, click [Import] to import the item.

iReport
You can create user-defined report by UltraAssist.
Tips: iReport is only used for modifying page header layout of report template.

User-defined Report Template


1. Open UltraAssist in computer, click [iReport] tab.
Select [Patient Info] tab to set layout for patient info in the 1st report page header;
Select [Page Header] tab to set layout for page header in the 2nd report page.
2. Click [New] to pop up the New Base On Preset Template, select the predefined layout type and
click [Finish] to enter the following report editing status:

Right click on the layout module and click [Add Row] to add another row to the report;
Right click on the layout module and click [Delete Row] to delete an added row;

Double-click the gray blank area in the module to pop up the editing dialogue box:

Select items to be displayed from the left list and click [->] to add to the display list;
Select the display item and click [-<] to delete it;
Click [Insert New Line] to add another line in the layout module;
Adjust item display layout using the selection Left, Center or Right in the Align box;
Enter a user-defined item in the blank box beside User Defined Item and click [Add] to add the
item to the display list;
Click [OK] to confirm the setting.
Click [Cancel] to cancel current modification.
Double-click the layout module frame (e.g. [Name]) to pop up the font setting dialogue box, where you
can set font display option.

If [Keyword visible] is checked, then module name will be displayed in the report template. For
example, check Keyword visible property of *Name+, after patient name XX is entered, you can
see Name: XX in the report.
After [Keyword visible] is checked, check [Auto Filter] also to set the system auto-display the
module name. For example, check Keyword visible property of *Name+, and no patient name is
entered in the exam, then both Name keyword and patient name will not be seen in the report.
Double click Hospital logo to pop up the logo setting dialogue box, where you can set logo width and
height.
Click [Open] to open the already defined report template or to change it.
3. Click [Save] to save current report template to the UltraAssist file path.

Sending User-defined Report Template
1. Open UltraAssist in computer, click [iReport] tab.
2. Click [Send To] to pop up the dialogue box.
3. Enter the report template name, and IP address of the ultrasound machine and click [OK] to send.
4. The ultrasound system will prompt you that a user-defined report template is received, click [OK]
to start receiving.
5. Select the application report for the user-defined template and click [OK] to finish.

Using User-defined Report Template
1. In the ultrasound system, open [Setup]->[Measure Preset]->[Report] page (take DC-8 as an
example).

2. Select the template you want to use from the Custom Report Template list on the right side, and
select the report type to be applied from the left side of the Report Type list to apply the template
to the report type.
To delete user-defined report template: select template in the Layout Template list and click *Delete+.

Importing/ Exporting User-defined Report
Template
1. After creating a user-defined report template in UltraAssist, click [Save As] to save the template
into the removable storage device (e.g. USB disk); or you can find the template (with a .htm suffix)
directly to copy it into the removable storage device.
2. Connect the removable storage device to the ultrasound system.
3. In the ultrasound system, open [Setup]->[Measure Preset]->[Report] page, click [Import] to import
the template.

Troubleshooting
