Detection Software Manual

Introduction :
This software is used for setting the network parameters such as IP, Gateway,
Subnet mask etc. Also some application specific parameters can be set. This software
communicates with Netmon,Mega switch ,Serial to Ethernet ,InstaSwitch and Remote.

Hardware Required :
1. 913DB_2 (Net Mon and Mega Switch)
2. 1211DB_1 (InstaSwitch)
3. 1221DB_1 (Serial to Ethernet and Remote)
4. 1146DB_5 (DAPC)

Who should use this manual ?

This manual is intended primarily, for people who will configure the required HW for its
use in network or LAN.

The prerequisite to use this software is as follows:


1. You should be familiar with the MS-Windows / Windows NT operating system.
2. You should know the customary Network and UPS related terms.
3. PC on which software will be running should be connected in LAN.

How to start this Software ?


To start with this software, run the provided executable of this software and select the required tab
depending on your application. The settings in each of the tabs are explained as follows.

Important Note:
1. While setting network parameters like please contact your system administrator.
2. Serial number setting for Instaswitch,DAPC,Serial to Ethernet and Remote is to be done
through cross cable connection
Net Mon :

1.Determining Current Settings of SNMP Adapter


Click on Detect button.
In Short time Detected Successfully Message Box will appear and Current Settings of
SNMP Adapter will be displayed on Main Dialog Box.
If there is problem in Network communication Timeout Message Box will be
Displayed
2.Setting IP Address
Click on Set IP Address button, 'Set IP Address' Dialog Box will appear.

Enter the IP Address of SNMP Agent you want to set and press OK button.IP Address
set successfully Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network
communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.

3.Setting UPS ID

Click on Set Ups ID button ,'Ups ID Dialog' Box will appear.

Enter the UPS ID you want to set and press OK button.Ups ID set successfully Message Box
will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.
4.Setting Ups Protocol
Click on Set Ups Protocol button, 'Set Protocol Dialog' box will appear

Depending upon type of your UPS System select one of the protocol, i.e. either Standard
Protocol or Custom Protocol
Select the Ups Protocol you want to set and press OK button ,Ups Protocol set
successfully Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.

5.Setting Subnet Mask

Click on Set Subnet mask button


Subnet Mask Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Subnet Mask you want to set and press OK button.Subnet Mask set
successfullyMessage Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.
6.Setting Gateway

Click on Set Gateway button


Gateway Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Gateway you want to set and press OK button.Gateway set successfully
Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed

7.Setting Community String

Click on Set Community button,'Set Community' dialog box will appear.

Enter Community String of SNMP Agent you want to set and press OK button ,
Community set successfully Message Box will appear if there is no problem in
Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.
8.Setting Trap Receivers

Click on Set Trap Receivers button,'Set First Trap Receiver' Dialog Box will appear.

Enter First Trap Receiver of SNMP Agent you want to set and press OK button.
First Trap Receiver set successfully Message Box will appear if there is no problem in
Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.You can set four Trap Receivers in
this way.
Mega Switch :

1.Detection
To start with the settings you need to detect the device.
Click on Detect button.
In Short time Detected Successfully Message Box will appear and current settings of
Mega Switch will be displayed.
If there is problem in Network communication Timeout message box will be displayed.
2. Setting IP Address
Click on Set IP Address button
Set IP Address Dialog Box will appear

Enter the IP Address you want to set and press OK button.IP Address set successfully
Message Box will appear, if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed

3.Setting Subnet Mask

Click on Set Subnet Mask button


Subnet Mask Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Subnet Mask you want to set and press OK button.Subnet Mask set
successfullyMessage Box will appear if there is no problem in Network
communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.
4.Setting Gateway
Click on Set Gateway button
Gateway Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Gateway you want to set and press OK button.Gateway set successfully
Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed

5. MODBUS ID

The Modbus ID dialog box appears as follows:

Enter the required value of the agent and click the OK button. The Modbus ID set
successfully message box will appear if there is no problem in network communication.
Otherwise the Timeout message box will be displayed.
Pressing Cancel will retain the earlier value.
6.MODBUS Baud Rate

The Modbus Baud dialog box appears as follows: Select the required baud rate and
click the OK button. The Port set successfully message ox will appear if there is no
problem in network communication. Otherwise the Timeout message box will be
displayed.
Pressing Cancel will retain the earlier value.
InstaSwitch :

1. Detection
Following is the procedure to start with device settings.
Click on Detect button.
The number of devices detected each of it with serial number and IP address will be
displayed.
Choose the required device from drop down menu and click Select Device button.
In Short time Detected Successfully Message Box will appear and current settings of that
device will be displayed.
In the initial detect if all the bytes for MAC address are found to be zero, then
Set Serial number window will appear .Set the appropriate serial no and click OK button
, Successfully Set Message box will appear.
If there is problem in Network communication Timeout message box will be displayed.
2.DHCP Settings
DHCP can be enabled or disabled by selecting respective radio button.
If you click on 'DHCPEnable' radio button following window will appear.

Click on yes button if you want to enable DHCP server.


When DHCP is enabled , then IP address, Subnet Mask & Gateway assigned by DHCP server
to the device are displayed in the respective text boxes. Also at this time buttons for setting IP
address, Subnet Mask & Gateway are disabled as they can't be set manually.
When DHCP is disabled , you should manually set IP address, Subnet Mask & Gateway.

3.Setting IP Address

Click on Set IP Address button


Set IP Address Dialog Box will appear

Enter the IP Address you want to set and press OK button.IP Address set successfully
Message Box will appear, if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed

4.Setting Subnet Mask

Click on Set Subnet Mask button


Subnet Mask Dialog Box will appear
Enter the Subnet Mask you want to set and press OK button.Subnet Mask set
successfullyMessage Box will appear if there is no problem in Network
communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.

5.Setting Gateway

Click on Set Gateway button


Gateway Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Gateway you want to set and press OK button.Gateway set successfully
Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed
6. Baud Rate

The Baud dialog box appears as follows:

Select the required baud rate and click the OK button


This is the baud rate at which InstaSwitch communicates.
The Port set successfully message box will appear.
If there is no problem in network communication. Otherwise the Timeout message box
will be displayed. Pressing Cancel will retain the earlier value.
This is the baud rate at which Instaswitch communicates.
Serial To Ethernet :

1. Detection
Following is the procedure to start with device settings.
Click on Detect Device button.
The number of devices detected each of it with serial number and IP address will be
displayed.
Choose the required device from drop down menu and click Select Device button.
In Short time Detected Successfully Message Box will appear and current settings of that
device will be displayed.
In the initial detect if all the bytes for MAC address are found to be zero, then
Set Serial number window will appear .Set the appropriate serial no and click OK button
, Successfully Set Message box will appear.
If there is problem in Network communication Timeout message box will be displayed.
2.DHCP Settings

DHCP can be enabled or disabled by selecting respective radio button.


If you click on 'DHCPenable' radio button following window will appear.

Click on yes button if you want to enable DHCP server.


When DHCP is enabled , then IP address, Subnet Mask & gateway assigned by DHCP server
to the device are displayed in the respective text boxes. Also at this time buttons for setting IP
address, Subnet Mask & Gateway are disabled as they can't be set manually.
When DHCP is disabled , you should manually set IP address, Subnet Mask & Gateway.

3.Setting IP Address
Click on Set IP Address button
Set IP Address Dialog Box will appear

Enter the IP Address you want to set and press OK button.IP Address set successfully
Message Box will appear, if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed

4. Setting Subnet mask


Click on Set Subnet mask button
Subnet Mask Dialog Box will appear
Enter the Subnet mask you want to set and press OK button.Subnet mask set
successfullyMessage Box will appear if there is no problem in Network
communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.

5.Setting Gateway
Click on Set Gateway button
Gateway Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Gateway you want to set and press OK button.Gateway set successfully
Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed

6. Baud Rate
The Baud dialog box appears as follows:
Select the required baud rate and click the OK button
This is the baud rate at which Serial to Ethernet card communicates.
The Port set successfully message box will appear.
If there is no problem in network communication. Otherwise the Timeout message box
will be displayed. Pressing Cancel will retain the earlier value.

7. Setting Community String

Click on Set Community button,'Set Community' dialog box will appear.

Enter Community String of SNMP Agent you want to set and press OK button ,
Community set successfully Message Box will appear if there is no problem in
Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.

8.Setting Trap Receivers

Click on Set Trap Receivers button,'Set First Trap Receiver' Dialog Box will appear.

Enter First Trap Receiver of SNMP Agent you want to set and press OK button.
First Trap Receiver set successfully Message Box will appear if there is no problem in
Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.You can set two Trap Receivers in
this way.
DAPC

1. Detection
Following is the procedure to start with device settings.
Click on Detect Device button.
The number of devices detected each of it with serial number and IP address will be
displayed.
Choose the required device from drop down menu and click Select Device button.
In Short time Detected Successfully Message Box will appear and current settings of that
device will be displayed.
In the initial detect if all the bytes for MAC address are found to be zero, then
Set Serial number window will appear .Set the appropriate serial no and click OK button
, Successfully Set Message box will appear.
If there is problem in Network communication Timeout message box will be displayed.
2.DHCP Settings

4. Setting Subnet mask


Click on Set Subnet mask button
Subnet Mask Dialog Box will appear
Enter the Subnet mask you want to set and press OK button.Subnet mask set
successfullyMessage Box will appear if there is no problem in Network
communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.

5.Setting Gateway
Click on Set Gateway button
Gateway Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Gateway you want to set and press OK button.Gateway set successfully
Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed
6. Setting Community String

Click on Set Community button,'Set Community' dialog box will appear.

Enter Community String of SNMP Agent you want to set and press OK button ,
Community set successfully Message Box will appear if there is no problem in
Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed.

7.Setting Trap Receivers

Remote:

1. Detection

5.Setting Gateway
Click on Set Gateway button
Gateway Dialog Box will appear

Enter the Gateway you want to set and press OK button.Gateway set successfully
Message Box will appear if there is no problem in Network communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed

6.Remote Setting
1. Set Number of UPS :- First select number of UPS to be supported by remote through the
combo box. After selection click on 'Set Number of UPS' button to set the value.
2. Setting UPS IP address:-
Click on Set IP Address button
Set IP Address Dialog Box will appear
Enter the IP Address you want to set and press OK button.IP Address set
successfully Message Box will appear, if there is no problem in Network
communication.
Otherwise Timeout Message Box will be Displayed
