INFINITIVES

We use the Full infinitive (to + base form of the verb):

1. To express purpose.
Im going to the supermarket to get some fruit.
2. After certain verbs: want, would like, would love, hope, decide, manage, plan, arrange,
advise, choose, learn, offer, promise, afford, agree, expect, seem, forget, teach, need, try, tell,
etc.
I havent managed to find it yet.
Full 3. After it + be + adjective (its nice, it was stupid, etc.).
Infinitive Its difficult to explain.
4. After certain adjectives: afraid, surprised, free, happy, ready, sorry, pleased, etc.
Are you afraid to ask him?
5. After too and enough.
You are too young to say out late.
Im strong enough to carry the box.
6. After questions words (who, how, what, etc.) in indirect questions.

1. After modal verbs: can, could, will, would, should, may, might, must.

-ING FORM
We use the -ing form:
1. After certain verbs: like, love, hate, enjoy, prefer, suggest, start, finish, continue, keep, stop, begin, avoid,
imagine, spend (time), etc.
I like listening music, but I hate dancing.
2. After certain expressions: dont mind, cant stand, be interested in, its worth, How/What about...?, I look
forward to, etc.
I look forward to seeing you.
3. After prepositions.

4. As a subject of a verb.
Smoking is a bad habit.

SHOULD / HAD BETTER

We use Should / Shouldnt + bare infinitive to:
1. Ask for and give advice.
Should I stay or should I go?
2. Express an opinion.
Should She should tell her mom about it.
3. Make a suggestion.
Shouldnt we discuss it with the boss first?
4. Express mild obligation.
You should go to work on time.
We use Had better + bare infinitive to give strong advice.
It often express threat or warning and its stronger than should.
It refers to the present or future, not the past.
Had better
Its negative form is had better not.
In spoken English, the short form is commonly used: Id better, youd better, etc.
Youd better ask a doctor about it.
Voice is the form of verb indicates, whether Subject of the Verb PERFORMS the action (or) RECEIVES the action
If subject of the Verb Performs the action It is termed as ACTIVE VOICE.
Else
If Object of the Verb performs the action it is termed as PASSIVE VOICE.

State the Rules to convert a sentence from Active Voice to Passive Voice.
1. Convert "Object of the Sentence into Subject".

2. Use the "be form\have form" as helping verb.

Have form represents to "have, has, had".

3. Main verb should always mention in Past Participle

form.

4. After Main verb use preposition "by".

5. After "by" replace OBJECT with SUBJECT.
