1. Introduction
1.1 Description
The MTX3GJAVA modems family is an innovative and powerful allinone solution enabling GSM,
SMS, fax and 3G (UMTS/HSPA) high speed data transmission. It has an intrinsic TCP/IP
communicationstackwithInternetServicessuchasTCP,UDP,HTTP,FTP,SMTP,andPOP3.
TheMTX3GJAVAisJavaJ2MEprogrammableandhasacompletesetofinterfaces(RS232,RS485,
USB, GPIO, I2C, GPIO, optoisolated IOs, AnalogtoDigital converter) avoiding need for further
hardware components, shortening time to market and reducing costs. It also has a wide range of
options(dependingonthemodel)allowingittobeusedininfiniteM2Mapplications:

To properly connect the modules USB interface to the host, a USB 2.0 compatible connector is
required. Furthermore, the USB modem driver which is delivered with MTX3GJAVA must be
installedasdescribedbelow.
The USB host is responsible for supplying power across the VUSB_IN line to the modules USB
interface. This is because MTX3GJAVA is designed as a self powered device compliant with the
UniversalSerialBusSpecificationRevision2.0.

7. Embedded applications
The MTX3GJAVA can embed an internal application written in popular JAVA language. Java
technology and several peripheral interfaces on the modem allow you to easily integrate your
application. This way, the customer application can be reduced because all the resources
(Microcontroller, Flash & RAM memory and all kind of I/O and bus peripheral) can be used by the
customer. This solution saves the external intelligence with all the associate costs and also saves
spaceandpowerconsumption.

Governments around the world have adopted comprehensive international safety guidelines,
developed by scientific organizations such as ICNIRP (International Commission on NonIonizing
Radiation Protection) and IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.), through
periodicandthoroughevaluationofscientificstudies.Theseguidelinesestablishpermittedlevelsof
radio wave exposure for the general population. The levels include a safety margin designed to
assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health, and to account for any variations in
measurements.
