SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICS 1

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Within the period, the student expected to:
Define and explain the concept of fluids, density,
pressure and buoyancy.
Discuss insight from these laws.
Analyze and solve problems using these laws.
Apply what they have learned in real life.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
Greet the students and have someone to lead the prayer.
Afterwards let the students pick up pieces of paper under their
chairs and let them sit properly. Checking of attendance.
A1. Review of the previous lesson
(The teacher will call student/s to recap the past lesson.)

B. Motivation
The teacher will present a video (Eureka the story of Archimedes
and the Golden Crown) and allow the students to give their own
interpretation on the video they watched on the questions that the
teacher will be asking.
1. What is your observation on the video?
2. What the video tells about?
3. What comes into your mind when you watch the video?

C. Presentation / Discussion
The teacher will discuss concept of fluids, density, pressure and
buoyancy with the student and provide examples.

D. Activity
The students will be grouped into three and they will be given a
problem relating to density. Each group was given a time of 15
minutes and 5 minutes to present their answers with solution in the
class.

1
Group 1: A student has a sample of aluminum that has a
mass of 27 g and a volume of 10 cm3. What is the density of
aluminum?
Group 2: A loaf of bread has a mass of 500 g and
volume of 2500 cm3. What is the density of the bread?

Group 3: A block of wood has a mass of 6.0 g and a

volume of 12.0 cm3. What is the density of the block of
wood?

E. Analysis
The teacher will present a picture, compare and ask if which is
denser.

F. Abstraction
The teacher will give or ask students to give the summary of the
discussion.
1. It is the degree of consistency measured by the quantity of
mass per unit volume?
2. How do we measure density?
3. How is the density of a weight or liquid measured?

G. Application
The students will be grouped into four and let the students think
and write a problem relating to density. Each group was given a
time of 10 minutes and 5 minutes to present their answers with
solution in the class.

IV. EVALUATION
1. The measure of the gravitational force of an object is called?
2. The amount of matter in an object is called?
3. T/F? Your weight is different on the moon.
4. T/F? Your mass is different on the moon.
5. T/F? Volume is the amount of space an object takes up.

V. ASSIGNMENT
1. What is the difference between mass and weight?
2. Make an research about buoyant force.

Activity:
1. A student has a sample of aluminum that has a mass of 27 g and a
volume of 10 cm3. What is the density of aluminum?
Density = mass/volume
Density = 27 g / 10 cm3
Density = 2.7 g/cm3

2. A loaf of bread has a mass of 500 g and volume of 2500 cm3. What is the
density of the bread?
Density = mass/volume
Density = 500g / 2500cm3
Density = 0.2 g/cm3

3. A block of wood has a mass of 6.0 g and a volume of 12.0 cm3. What is
the density of the block of wood?
Density = mass/volume
Density = 6.0g / 12.0cm3
Density = 0.5 g/cm3

Evaluation:
1. Weight
2. Mass
3. True
4. False
5. True
