When you have the power to level mountains, outrun the fastest planes,
control the weather, its natural you think the world is at your feet. And with
reason, what can stop you now? Humanity can.

Yeah, we know that Proteus has enough info about nova behaviour and
physiology to keep the potential threats where they can be watched and given the
case controlled. The Directive is always vigilant, if you touch a coin they know
who you are, where you are and what you ate. Just imagine what could happen if
one day they find out what the other does, and by accident, and to spice things a
little, if a faction of novas tries to take over a portion of the world, one in a very
dangerous place, near old nuclear missiles silos, near China, near total extinction.

This series takes the scenario presented in the source book Aberrant
Worldwide and boosts the possible outcomes to apocalyptic levels.

In this series the political intrigue is as important as the quantum bolts and
fists, and can be played as a spy movie, or as a non-stop, cliff-hanger action
movie.

While politics may seem boring and tedious, the relevance of small
countries in the global scenario, and how not all battles can be won with fists
alone, and how politics sometime need a fist on their faces to accelerate things a
little.

Power players are left out of the arena in unexpected ways, a new generation
of paragons, monsters and icons need to step into the spotlight and carry the world
on their backs; also have to decide if a race is totally obliterated or if the planet is
an acceptable casualty.

INTRODUCTION
It all begins July 2008 any day that suits better your series and the final
chapter is played December 31 2015. The most important antagonists in the
chronicle are a handful of influential baselines and no more than 6 novas of great
power (novas of moderate power as you think appropriate).

The baselines in question are politics mainly, the novas are early erupters
that build up taint and power, all this characters have something in common,
ideals; humans try to expel novas from Earth the early events in the chronicle
develop a scenario of intolerance and hatred the political factions begin a
struggle for control; the Directive and Proteus, separately, try to establish a nova
police, and if players cooperate, they might end up working together. The Teragen
movement shatters due to internal struggle and ego clashes, Divis Mal steps into
the shadows just to see who is the last man standing. Utopia tries to control
everything just to prove that no one is as intelligent as them. The Aberrants are
stuck in the middle, they find out there are a lot more conspiracies involved;
independence means weakness and they are too independent, they need a leader
and a more defined agenda or the novakind might not survive.

The central figure in the human faction is an Italian politician, Paolo


Galassi, in the early 2008, he starts his political career, little by little, his control
becomes global and is highly unlikely the characters will ever see him in person,
assassinate him at an early stage will bring a more zealous figure to take charge,
Katherine McCreary, another up and coming politician (whom can be either
Canadian or American), McCreary will accelerate things a lot, possibly a couple
of years, but never more than 4.

CHAPTER
Where the novas begin the journey in search for
salvation

SETTING
The chronicle starts in two locations, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the U. S.

Brazil:
This is the action side of this chronicle, here the characters get to see the
dangers of independence, a rogue nova called Toxigen, tries to sabotage a
Rashoud facility, accusing Project Utopia of creating an army of mindless novas
with the porpoise of take over the world. His weapons are his powers, and
explosives in several locations in the city (you pick targets with especial relevance
to your players), recommended targets are of course hospitals, schools,
supermarkets etc. at least 6, everything points out this is regular Teragen terrorist
attack; Toxigen has the poison power (but he doesn’t know about it, treat it as a
reflective action), and its very specialised, he is capable to produce large amounts
of an evolved type of Ebola, his transmission is aerial, and the size of the virus
makes very difficult the contention, this of course is not evident, he threatens with
detonating the humans that are with him and the building with them inside, he
also has the human staff and a handful of nova recruits controlled via hypnosis as
hostages(only subjects with a force field that doesn’t lets air pass, or energy
immolate can pass the containment area without having its clothes impregnated
with the virus, if a characters gets as near as 5 meters to Toxigen have to make a
Resistance roll difficulty 5 to resist the virus which takes effect in one hour and at
24 has dissolved the organs and killed the subject due to haemorrhage and fever),
he wants nothing but the disappearance of Project Utopia from the planet, nor
money or media will calm the nova. Assume the mental powers against him have
little effect, he knows only that Utopia must be stopped, and mental attacks have
one less level of effect, due to his tolerance to pain. If the characters kill him,
consequences are in two ways, first, the virus relapses, Toxigen final action is a
last minute stunt, the virus is totally under his control, the virus is dormant and
will pass undetected and will activate in undetermined time, maybe a week or a
decade, secondly the characters will be recognised as heroes, but the
consequences won’t be pleasant in the future; if Clayton is alive but unconscious
the virus is still dormant but at Clayton’s command, he can activate it at will
whenever the characters are at 10 meters or less, of course that a dormant virus is
reproducing, the characters might become incubators for the plague.

Story: he doesn’t remembers who he was prior to his eruption, hell, he


doesn’t knows that he has the poison power, but the truth is this: Clayton was a
successful attorney, working in New York (for a certain TDC Corp.) until his
eruption, in fact this is the first information his family has, since December 2007
they haven’t seen him, he has a wife, a 24 years old girl who is also an attorney
for the same firm, and a boy of 21 who is currently missing also, his last location
was Italy in January 2008, the big secret behind Clayton’s disappearance is that
his eruption was somehow controlled and orchestrated, he erupted in a business
meeting, while arguing with another nova, senior partner in the same company
Clayton worked, after his eruption the company alleged that he left the building
confused and enraged, another report located him in Europe, some two months
later, in Greece, where he worked in the docks using his physical prowess in
cargo loading and stuff, then nothing. In this blank space one thing is sure Clayton
was in America but hidden serving some purpose, the rest of the info is below.

The utopians will have to deal with the mad nova, either with a negotiation
or via brute force, negotiate with the nova will only delay the inevitable, a
confrontation, with him are four humans, all dying, so their actions are -2d10,
each carries a Heavy Weapon (7-9d10L) and each carries a last minute defence a
jacket filled with small metal balls (did anyone saw “Swordfish”? well, that kind
of jackets [Initial damage 10d10, Secondary damage 8d10 as many times as the
storyteller determines, secondary damage is not reduced by the distance and in
closed spaces should be increased, covering behind pillars or tables reduces
secondary damage by 1d10]) this jackets are detonated by hart beats (suspicious
tech, the characters must notice this) if any human dies the jackets activate with 4
minutes intervals, in case that they are separated more than 10 meters also activate
, and there is also a bomb in the streets, a van is filled with 600 KGs. of plastic
explosives, set to detonate one hour after the attention is attracted, the van is
placed in a mall not so near the terrorists (so there must be more than just a bunch
of wackos behind this)

Clayton will flee the battle scene to avoid the explosive jackets, he’ll go in
search of the personal which is contained in a laboratory, with only one subject
the outbreak should begin; afterwards he’ll get hostages and look for some way
out, as bullets mean nothing to him, a simple special team wont be able to stop
him, and if the players characters have been in contact with him they also carry
the virus, making things a little bit difficult when it come to human interaction
(Clayton carries the virus in his slimy skin, eufiber is also affected, per rules in
the Players Guide), if one of the characters become a Typhoid Mary Clayton’s
mission is accomplished and/or if at least 3 baselines are, its not important if a
nova or a baseline dies, his objective is the spread of the disease among human
population, and the conditions in South America are ideal to the plans of an
extremist group called the Seven Arrows (this group has its operation centre in
Nebraska, their agenda includes a more participant U. S. and less Utopia, the
group is in good terms with the Church of Michael Archangel, but hides from
them the fact that they manipulate novas [Clayton is one of maybe three] so they
can use their powers with the sole purpose of terrorist attacks), and this is the
political side of the chapter.
Now, all this has a lot of loose ends, how did Toxigen ended in Brazil
without anyone noticing? Answer, a U. S. based company sent a container
destined to a certain company named Selva Vermelha, of course any search for
that company based in Rio de Janeiro will reveal a couple of facts: Clayton
worked as a sailor for the company that transported the cargo, and an address in
the U. S., a small house in Nebraska, about 45 Km outside Lincoln. If they go
after the container the research will put the city in danger, the container is sealed
and opening it is an Intrusion action difficulty 2, and inside are a couple of bodies
in containment suits, they are dead since this morning and no ID’s are left, DNA
tests will prove that they were male Caucasians and about 35-45 years old nothing
else, a hospital bed and monitors, hospital material burnt to traces, not much to
investigate (Mega Perception attempts at difficulty 4 no less and only vague
information, Clayton was transported here without his knowledge or approval, the
only clear trace is in the U. S. The bombs the group left detonate, and the only
evidence left is that it was also introduced illegally to Brazil, that the explosives
were placed in it since the origin of the container, also in the bombs have no trace
of nova intervention, only humans touched and drove the van, the explosion left
no finger prints, hair traces or similar evidences. The existence of a virus is
confirmed three days later, when the first human dies.

UTOPIA: its very easy, the characters that belong to Utopia have to Deal
with Toxigen as fast as they can and with the less destruction, once that the
menace is contained, they have to follow the evidence.
PROTEUS: the modus operandi is suspicious, they have orders to search
every fact, no stone left unturned, there is no possibility that an event such as this
escaped the vigilance, there must be special attention to this Seven Arrows
faction.
THE DIRECTIVE: according to the U. S. there is no such group as the
Seven Arrows operating in its soil, the other countries begin to look towards the
U. S. with suspicion, and all operatives must be specially discreet when operating
there, and inform frequently about the investigation.
TERAGEN: if one thing infuriates the Treagen is that someone who isn’t
Tera claims that he is, and if he commits an atrocity you can be sure that
investigation is the first thing in the Pantheon mind.
ABERRANTS: maybe this action is the proof that they need to prove that
something wrong goes on inside Utopia, maybe someone else fund what Slider
and Corbin found, they will follow the traces in two ways, either to support the
Seven Arrows without knowing what they are, or, if they found what’s going on
to stop the terrorist from the origin.
ELITES: Brazilian government is eager to find who did this, and has enough
resources to pay a group of elites to investigate, giving them diplomatic
immunity. (If the characters are not elites themselves, ahead are a couple of
templates, modify them if you want, the only thing you need to keep in mind is
that they are killing machines under orders)
INDEPENDENTS: the chaos caused for this incident will surely place the
independents in thin ice, they better start doing something besides slacking and
clean nova’s image to the world.
The aftermath leaves South America on guard, a mysterious Ebola outbreak,
research reveals that this is a completely new virus, and there seems to be no cure,
the Brazilian authorities are on guard and searching for the origin, a three days
later (or sooner if the characters somehow interact with) Clayton is found the
origin of this outbreak, any nova or baseline who got to interact in someway with
Toxigen are going to be searched and contained, but this operation is not in the
hands of the Brazilian government, is a Directive sanctioned operation,
mysteriously the government does nothing but ask for help to the U. S. (they
already have a group of elites working in the case). So, if the characters are
Utopia they will be called to U. S. for further tests and are sent to investigate what
Utopia has on Clayton; if they are Proteus or Directive after quarantine they have
the mission to inform all they can found on Toxigen’s life and relations before
and afte3r eruption, because there are no records of all this in the data bases of
either agency and if they are Teragen or elites or independents they will surely
have to run for their lives (unless they decide to work for Brazil then they become
the elite team), because the approach of the operation is shoot first ask questions
later, in any case, they are on their way to the U. S.

U. S.
The arrival isn’t as easy as it would seem, if the characters are supported by
the Brazilian government, their visas will be checked and rechecked, a
Bureaucracy roll difficulty 2 reveals that they are watched by the secret service,
this is the same for Utopians, Directive operatives will be separated, American
agents will be conduced to a secure area where they receive the orders to report
only to American branches of the Directive, the reason is because the German
branch reported an intelligence leak, so European agents might be observed by
other factions, Teras will probably enter the U. S. without this formalities, in this
case continue and let the chapter continue; in case that non aligned characters
want to enter, special vigilance will be placed upon them.
In case things get a little rough, have a couple of teams for control, and for
Teragen further in the story, use the templates in Worldwide Phase II, human and
nova. In the case that the characters are working as elites this is what the Brazilian
government orders them: find all they can about Toxigen, all they can about
Victor Clayton, and never report all this info but only when they are on national
embassies, and if anyone opposes they have diplomatic visas so almost everything
is fair but don’t let them abuse this power) O. K. the place to be is Nebraska, the
problem is that is to big and that Kansas is near, no matter how the characters get
there, constant Teragen attacks will present, all to divert the evident Quantum
traces in Kansas, so the attacks will be more a warning than a real threat (or if you
are specially dramatic add a Pantheon member, my advice is Shrapnel or Geryon);
there is no need to remind the constant vigilance of government agents, via
satellite or in the road, why so much attention? Because the U. N. and the C. D. C.
reported the effect of the virus released in Brazil (once in contact, the chances of
develop the disease are of 98%, and the chances to die after the contagion are of
99%; containment suits are effective only in 40%, the virus dissolves, literally, the
suit, so fire and novas are the only choice), and if Clayton is alive, all of a sudden
(as if someone was controlling him via mental powers), claims that the
destruction of U. S. is near, the cancer will be eradicated, the only choice left is
amputate the infected area, if Utopia doesn’t leaves U. S. territory, the plague will
be released, and he also describes the carriers (the characters involved, duh!) this
is reported globally so unless they are absolutely isolated news will reach them.
The U. S. (but also the Directive and Utopia and Proteus, but secretly) wants to
analyse the virus and develop a vaccine, but while the virus is dormant is almost
impossible, and a nova organism reacts differently to any disease, so the only
choice is that the carriers infect a community.
The characters might want to trace Clayton’s steps, the leads take them to
his home, a small house on the outsides of Omaha, its a really old wooden house,
it’s literally falling to pieces, and everything points that Clayton hasn’t set a foot
there in more than a year, Quantum Attunement reveals the use of nova powers
there, recently (temporal manipulation in order to age every part of the house),
pamphlets let the characters know that he’s involved somehow with the Church of
Michael Archangel, and that the last correspondence he got was from ??? Greece,
from the company where he once worked, dated June 12 2007, there are
fragments of the letter, and its in Greek, the fragments reveal that he was about to
be sued, but the charges are not mentioned in the remains of the letter, besides
this, nothing is left. So the clues lead them to Greece, but getting out the States
will be more difficult than it sounds, after they have done their research and are
about to leave a Teragen cell attacks them, use templates of small power enough
to tire your characters.

First contact
A group of Teragen will face the characters in any moment after they have
searched the house, but don’t let the characters too much time without action, just
when they are unaware, they are not powerful, but a bunch of novas out of control
is surely annoying, in case that the characters are Teras, then they will be facing
the elite team that was mentioned before. In this case the elite team will burn the
house and search for the novas who got there, and they will find them easily, they
have to take the characters by surprise, but they should take care of the team with
relative ease, when they defeat the elites, something will appear from the sky, its
flying fast towards them, and a node scan will result positive, in 2 turns it’ll reach
them, an at it’s arrival there will be a sonic boom (7d10 sound Strobe), besides a
Shockwave (Mega Strength 3) and an explosion (8d10B), in the centre of all this a
figure will stand still, a nova with a body made of gleaming blue ice, two pairs of
wings, angelic ice wings and demoniac fire wings, surrounded by red flames, if
the characters want to attack him they are welcomed to do so, but the first
attempts will prove them that he’s well beyond their level, too fast to be seen and
if they ever touch him is intangible, all he tries to do during the fight is cause
chaos, after throwing some punches, he’ll leave the scene, and immediately a
Directive team human and nova will show, the characters by now will be easily
subdued and prepared for an interrogation scene, the Directive wants a sample of
the active virus, and they need the only survivors who have the virus (note that
Clayton is dead) so they do it their way or the highway.

2 CHAPTER
ND

WHERE THE NOVAS INVOLVED WILL SEE THE TRUTH

The Directive plays an important role in this chapter and if the characters
move the right pieces, the Directive and Project Proteus will never cross paths
and, therefore, the Big Plan will be not so big.
All starts in a Secret Directive centre, the characters have no idea of how
much time has passed (Characters with Temporal Manipulation know that two
days have passed, but maybe a Directive device was activated, so they cannot
trust this info, make them paranoid), or where are they (they are in an abandoned
hangar near Mexico in Arizona about 45 Km to the east from El Paso), all they
will hear (here you can use the Directive nova containment devices in the
sourcebook, and all they hear in case they hear anything at all is coded intel com,
no nodes besides theirs, use this same treatment for Directive characters too), after
the recollection team has left, an hour passes, the character might try to free
themselves, allow them to do so, if they are smart enough, use booby traps and be
creative, in the end they will be free, but in a hangar, with no knowledge of their
whereabouts or the day, if they know about the virus they carry, encourage the
paranoid aspect of a foretold catastrophe.
After they have a good time for interpersonal role play, the Directive agents
assigned appear, a Native-American leads (Joseph “Stormbringer”), behind him a
“James Bondish-looking” (agent William Hawke), a girl no more than 25 years of
appearance (Cassandra Athanasiadis) and last a male of 30-35 years old (Col.
Andrew Hauptmann), all of them in Directive uniforms.
They will be in charge of the interrogatory, and will restrict any use of force,
they will remain calmed, and will be reasonable enough (A node scan reveals that
the first three persons are novas the last is baseline; the scan also reveals that they
are more or less powerful, but the powers are just a plus, a trained operative is
more dangerous because what he knows and carries [by the way, each of them
carries a dose of inhaled eclipsdol], if the characters begin a fight, don’t hesitate
in using the eclipsdol, subdue but don’t kill, the info that the agents recollect
might be the piece they need to complete a case of conspiracy of global
importance), if you prefer, the NPC’s won’t reveal their identity to the characters.
The questions go from names, places, immigration status, etc. but the
important questions they ask also give the characters a good idea of what is going
on:
-(Stormbringer)Which is your relation with the Brazilian government?, Why
are you here?, are you under Brazilian gov orders?
-(Hawke)Have you ver been to Italy?, Yes, when?, What do you know about
TDC Corp.?
-(Athanasiadis) She’ll speak few, and only a couple of questions at the end
of the interrogatory: Do you know Richter?, why were you fighting with him?
-(Hauptmann) He will conduct the session, the agents will turn to him in
every opportunity, but he will not even look to the novas being interrogated, in the
end he’ll turn his back and won’t look back, he’ll leave orders with
“Stormbringer”
In the end, the agents will let the characters go, no further questioning, here
is allowed a Wits or Perception+Awareness or Rapport or Subterfuge two
successes will reveal a subdermal tracking device, placed in the forehead, without
appropriate equipment, the only way to remove it is peeling the skin (-1
Appearance for one month until the skin heals and acquires the same tone, faster
if the character has Regeneration or Healing), or with all the necessary
implements a Medicine roll difficulty 2; and an Engineering roll will reveal that
besides it is a tracking bug, it also is programmed to detect the virus, once it’s
active, the bug sends a signal to the base; all this can be in the presence of the
agents, and they will answer all questions related to the devices, the characters
can leave any time, the agents will remain (a Hyper-Enhanced Hearing roll is
allowed, one success reveals this fragment of conversation:

-…well, let them do our job; if they find Richter, or Lad attack, if don’t,
make it happen, place all clues as you’ve done…

Then the communication is interrupted and the characters are on their own
in unknown ground.

Story: few is known about Joseph (if that is his real name), all he tells his
friends is that he was a young rebel, at 21 he had spent more time in jail than at
home, at 24 he was again in jail because drug traffic, once there he tried to finally
amend his errors, and 15 years latter, he got out, a friend of old showed up and
invited him for a ride in Mexico, there in his farewell to the “good life” tasted a
cactus called Peyote, and his life changed, all of a sudden he was in a magical
world, there he found his Nahual, his animal self, the coyote, the trickster, after
this experience he realised he was floating a wind draft propelled him, it was
2003. About how he got in the Directive he doesn’t speaks, the important is that
he’s there and the bad guys are out there.
Appearance: a Native-American of 35, not handsome, but his appearance is
imposing, about 1.95 m tall and 100 kg, hair shaved and carrying a big gun
always.
Power Use: his first choice is his big F gun, in automatic bursts, once is
empty he’ll decrease and attack on his other action gained by Quickness (and any
experience he gains will go to this Enhancement).
Notes: he is not in charge but everything seems he is, and while pretending
he is very aggressive, most likely to loose his temper.

Story: William Hawke had everything, a trophy wife, a son, a daughter, was
financial advisor to big, big companies, and all the money he, hell, he and three or
four generations could spend, but he was getting old, at 45 he felt that life was
short, then it happened, Portman, and during 2 years he dedicated his life to the
sole purpose of erupting, until it happened his body was re-made in steel, made to
last for ever. Now with a new self, (he even turned back his clock, he looked like
30)and with new perspective enrolled the S. A. S. ,admitted only because he was a
nova, there he was carefully observed, the next step was the Directive.

Centre while testing her powers, the future revealed itself, destruction, decay,
chaos, and it all came from Utopia, she quitted and went looking for the solution,
she found the Directive, not the other way around, and she was just too perfect to
be true

Power use: her Pretercognition is canalised through mathematics, extremely
complex equations reveal the future, of course that this takes time (for every year
in the future about 8 hours or so), but she is rarely wrong.

is her job, there must be no surprises.

After all this you can try another chapter created by you, it can last for about
2 weeks or so, at the end the virus must become active, this is where the series
returns to the main story. When you return to this series, the Directive will have
much more information, if in the sessions you prepared the characters have
searched for information regarding Clayton or the names they heard award them
with this info:
Clayton: as cleared before, he lived in New York prior to his escapade to
Seven Arrows, he was tremendously rich and this fact was covered by someone,
and didn’t made it’s way to the news, he had a wife and two kids (well 24 and
21), the time he spent as sailor is hazy also but he visited mainly the
Mediterranean sea, and about his lost year the name they might trail is T. Richter,
an important contact in TDC Corp., and also partner in the transport company he
worked in while a sailor. All this facts lead to either Europe or U. S.; Greece or
New York.
Richter: besides all the above, if the characters’ research is concentrated in
Richter, the facts are this: he’s nova, powerful, was an elite, for two years (2003-
2005) worked in DeVries, after that no info about him (if the characters are
Directive operatives, they know, after a roll Manipulation+Favors difficulty 3,
that he worked as black op for the Directive , his mission was to take care of a
scientist and after six months kill him?), but in 2007 he appeared in the world
scene again as media producer, he invested in several companies and was
somewhat famous (as George Martin to the Beatles), actually he is working in a
big music festival named NOVAPALOOZA where he tries to make the nova-
baseline relation more relaxed, in an ambient of equality.

At the end of your chapter, the virus is active, and the characters might be in
an urban area, there are two ways, if they’re Directive, when the recovery team
shows up, the elite team that has chased them will show up and will attack anyone
that comes near the characters, and will try to leave them unconscious. Or if the
characters are something else or a mixed troupe the Directive will show up and
they have very little choice but to fight, after a few good punches, the gadgets will
show up (either Directive or DeVries), giving the opponents a great deal of
advantage, just when things get ugly someone appears to save the players, a group
of freelance elites (if they are Directive the scenario is very chaotic, don’t worry,
makes perfect sense ahead), they will save the characters, with a couple of flash
and sonic grenades (modified of course, 8d10 strobe, minimum 1 turn), if the
characters are awake after all this a figure that resembles a doctor will show up,
and take the characters away.
The doctor is the first major regular contact they will have, so try to keep
him alive.

tomorrow, living as an elite.

Story: he lived as a poor sailor, travelling from here to there an somewhere


in between, life passed, in his last trip in a cruise something happened, a couple of
novas began a fight in the deck, and it continued, he was in the lower levels, when

fists were still on fire, his soul was in fire, those novas abused of their powers and
hurt people, so he jumped to stop them, ten seconds were enough. Now he’s got

Story: growing is hard, other kids hi s age had their parents, he didn’t, dad

was always somewhere else, when dad told him that he was gonna divorce his
mom he wanted to run away, far and away, he left home and started running,
when he realised he was 2000 Km from “home” the rush came, he was now a
nova, he wanted to be on his own, to start from zero, his wish was fulfilled, saw
the opportunity to become an elite, a supermodel girlfriend, the fame and the
fortune; of course that now dad is searching, some day he might find him.
Appearance: the eruption left him with a 20 something body tattooed from
head to toes and a mane of intense red with the end in bright gold, about 1.90m
and an athletic body like the runner he is.
Power use: he bursts into flame only in the moment he runs, he believes that
speed activates the tattoos and they somehow are the fire he sees, so the flames
are like moving 3D tattoos.
Notes: he doesn’t knows what happened with his “family”, Hauptmann is
actively searching for him, if the characters want to involve with this NPC let
them do so, this seemingly unimportant character might lead to the unification of
the Directive and Project Proteus.

Once the characters are sound and safe, the elites will take care that no one
gets near them, only in the battle field they will touch them, outside only Dr. K.
will get near them, the elites will lead them to mobile containment rooms, thye
only thing they will see is a cave well illuminated and a room ahead, and there
they will explain the purpose of this action, they will tell the characters that the
person who paid to find and retrieve them is actively searching for a cure, and in
no way is affiliated to Utopia or something, if the characters use the Enhancement
Lie Detector will find nothing, if the characters want to be conduced to where this
benefactor is continue with the chapter, if they want to wait or not to be conduced,
a kitten or a bird will be placed with them, if what the mysterious benefactor told
them is truth, this pets will die as soon as the plague releases, then only him will
help them without any more deaths, and the elite team will remain there in the
other room, if the characters escape, let them and go unopposed, you go to chapter
three.

If the characters decide to be taken where his benefactor is, the elites will
press a button in a remote control they have and the transparent walls of the
container will turn black, no Perception Enhancement works, the soak of the walls
is 48/40, and they have about 30 HL, besides that after the first impact a subsonic
surveillance system, any character taking any action against the walls needs to
pass a Willpower roll diff. 4, this sound travels to the most primal regions of the
brain, and brings out the fear to darkness primitive humans had, of course this is
unknown to the characters, but maybe later the character they will meet might
inform the procedure.
Dinner with a King
After a lot of time (Temporal Manipulators know that 12 hours have passed)
and they were moved, how? They don’t know, there were no sounds, and no
movement, but then the walls clear and they are in a big room black walls, high
roof, one door and no furniture. After they have a good time of interpersonal role
play a figure appears, tall and thin, dressed in black leather, with a mask (think in
King Mobfrom The Invisibles but in LSD, his attire changes, fickle, and
never seems the same), and when he’s about a meter from the walls they twist and
open a way in, just right when he passes the walls become whole again. And once
inside the helmet becomes like water, but it evaporates a fraction after it seems
liquid, the description follows the character sheet.
He is kIng LiZarD one of the novas controlling all the events, so he
will cover his trail, but make all he says true, never reveal a thing, but a fact that
is described ahead is a big clue, of course only available through role play.
Once inside the characters can ask for everything they want, the KiNg will
tell all that is planed for this chapter, here are probable matters.
-What do you want and why are we here? We want nothing but save Our
kind, and the way things are right now between baselines and novas the least
thing we need is tension, and about why are you here is because the more hidden
you are the better, after all this passes We will clean your name (he’s a king so
remember he always addresses to himself as We).
-If anyone questions his abilities, a raw power display follows, think of
something cool beforehand, show the real meaning of nova POWER. After all
that he’ll be as polite and as before that.
-Where are we? They are in an island in the Atlantic about 700Km from
Brazilian coasts. Why Brazil? Because its the best place to try the cure.
-If they insist about the motivations he will insist in the need to relax
tensions between novas and baselines (Hint, hint, what is Richter trying to do?,
and what did Richter do to the characters?).

Story he rather doesn’t talk about his life as baseline, all he says is that he
was Brit, that he has a sister somewhere in the world and that he was a complete
junkie, allegedly his eruption was in the middle of an extra-corporeal experience
where he saw his lost sister being sold as a sex slave somewhere in Europe, then
he wanted to blow everything, and he did, and does on a regular basis, after that
he decided to turn his back on humanity, explore the world and stuff, on a
mystical journey in the middle of Africa (why there?, you never know where
illumination might find you) he knew a Teragen, Jack Daniels, there his relation
was based on the number of baselines and novas they killed, and not because they
had anything to do there, no, it was pure fun. Somehow they made a lot of money,
and they and other novas founded TDC Corp., a company dedicated to do
money, extortion, espionage, technological innovation drug traffic and
manufacturing etc. the link to the Teragen gave him a lot of opportunities to learn
and develop his abilities, but his insight and independence didn’t blinded him as
they did with Scripture, he saw in Mal nothing but an enormous ego and a bunch
of co-dependent ex girlfriends around him, with Daniels and other novas decided
to stray from the cult of personality; they planed something, what? Only they
know.
Appearance tall, hairless, pierced, strange, half Buda, half Charles Manson,
his black eyes reflect mixed emotions, always dresses his eufiber in a biker mode.
Power use because of his Quantum, he can’t be subtle, he’s been around
almost since day one, he knows almost everything, and has cultivated his powers
and attributes to the max, frequently he creates explosives modified to detonate
with air contact, 2 or 3 times a week, Biomanipulation is his new power, he’s
working with it, at any chance he’ll use it just to see what happens, Disintegration
is seldom used but nothing stands after its use.
Notes he has about ten years as nova and he’s the most zealous erudite this
side of Divis Mal, he is illumination, of course that the others don’t understand
what he does or what he thinks, he’s the mastermind behind the plan, and his plan
is going to take decades to be complete, he has patience and a lot of surprises.

After this he’ll work with the characters searching for the cure, he has the
Biomanipulation power so taking the virus out the novas’ bodies is piece of cake,
don’t hesitate in showing what POWER is, that will take him about 2 or 3 days
and the characters have the time to get around the base, its built inside a volcano,
it seems that was carved by hand, the beach is just wonderful and they are allowed
to swim only after the cure is developed, so they can interact with the elites and
know a little about them, just how little is up to the role play, Fuel’s secret only
will be revealed to a really close friend, make one or two characters act this
relation and with the other elites.
After 3 days the cure is finally in their hands, what they do is up to them,
kINg lIzaRd suggests that the cure should go to Brazil first, but will finally
support whatever reason the characters give him, in the end the characters will
leave the island, and just when they are far away from the island a familiar sound
appears, the same “comet” they saw appears from nowhere and impacts the
island, but this time the impact is stronger, the island is reduced to ashes, no trace
of the base or KiNG LiZArd, the island is slowly sinking and the elite team
is nothing but a pile of cinders.
In the deepest part of the crater a shadow stands, gleaming under the sun,
golden reflections towards the characters, a body made of gold, tall, athletic and
suddenly turns his head looking to them, there is no other option but to fight him,
he’s powerful, but nothing a handful of novas can’t handle; here are the stats:

nova can discover the “donated powers”, XL will fight to the end, and giving
