skills, (b) gain more experience in technical writing and professional report writing, and (c) make
a significant addition to your professional portfolio.

We recommend that you ask your supervisor/team leader to read your work term report,
especially the activities section, prior to submitting. This is an opportunity for your supervisor to
approve and provide feedback on the content of the report.

Please follow these guidelines for report presentation:

Standard essay format
8-10 typed, double-spaced pages
Reflective and analytical, and rich in content

Deadline for submission is one month after you return from your placement.

Work terms completing December 2011: reports are due February 3, 2012
Work terms completing April 2012: reports are due June 8, 2012

2. Development of Professional Skills and Competencies

a) Objectives
Identify four learning objectives you hoped to achieve during your work term. If you have
recently completed 1EE0, use these objectives. If this is not your first work term, or if you
completed 1EE0 more than a year ago, please consider learning objectives that are specific to
your current work term.

Your consideration of learning objectives should focus on the development of your technical
skills (e.g., field-related software for modeling), plus the development of your professional
competencies (e.g., professional communication skills; managing people and tasks; managing
self including time management, organization and problem solving; managing change).

b) Outcomes
Reflect on and analyze your success in achieving each of your work term objectives. How did
your work term contribute to the development of your professional skills?

Identify the three key skills that you developed during the work term. What is the significance of
these skills to your professional development?

Provide an overall evaluation of your experience, and describe the impact of your work term on
your academic and career plans.

3. Behaviour-based Interview Question

Identify a behaviour-based interview question that you would like a future employer to ask you
because you have a very good answer based on your experiences in this work term. Write
down your question and your response. Co-op experiences are intended to not only enhance
your professional job skills; they are also intended to enhance your professional job-seeking
skills. This question and the answer should demonstrate these professional interviewing skills.
An example of this could be Describe a time that youve had to make a decision that had an
impact on a work unit.
