This resource is Scripture: Genesis 45:115

designed to allow your family to share time in Gods Word before your child attends youth
group. At Home Weekly is meant to inspire you toward a deeper personal relationship with
Jesus Christ, equip you to be the primary person presenting these biblical concepts to your
child, and support you as you connect and grow alongside your son or daughter.
SERIES FOCUS VERSES: GENESIS 50:1921
Gods people love Gods Word. They read it, they sing it, they pray according to it, they meditate
upon it, and they memorize it. This week as a family, take some time to memorize another set of
Focus Verses from our series. Here are some suggestions:
Post It. Have each member of your family take three sticky notes, write the Focus
Verses on each of them, and choose a place in the house to post them. This way,
Gods Word will literally be hanging on the walls!
Picture It. Take a picture of the Focus Verses (either written out or from your Bibles)
and make it the wallpaper on your phone. Every time you turn your phone on, youll
see Gods Word.
Popcorn It. Without looking at the verses, have each person recite five words and
then pass to the family member to their right. If anyone has trouble, allow other family
members to help. For fun, see how fast your family can recite the whole passage from
memory together. Make sure to let encouragements abound!
Pray It. Use the Focus Verses as a guide for family prayer. Read them together and
then, as a family, respond to God in prayer. Thank Him for creating us in His image
and for the gift of families. Ask Him to help your family to become more and more like
Him and reflect Him well to others. Let Gods Word guide your words in prayer.

The Encouragement Mission
Few things are more encouraging to youth leaders than to know their students are engaging in
Gods Word and desiring to grow in Jesus. Take a moment to let your childs leader know how
God is working in her heart.
Give your child a piece of paper and a pen and have her finish this sentence: Last
week, God used the story of Jacob to teach me When your child finishes, have
her share her answer with you and then send her to youth group next week with the
letter in an envelope to share with her youth leader.

GATHER AROUND GODS WORD
Not only has God called churches to gather around His Word, but He has called families to as
well (Deuteronomy 6:47). Before your child gathers with her youth group around Gods Word,
have him read it with you first!
READ: Read Genesis 45:115 together as a family. Give each member a Bible and
take turns reading a few verses at a time.
DISCUSS: Once youve finished reading, invite your child to share two things. First,
have him share what he thought was the most important part of the passage. This
should help him think a little deeper about the passage and what its communicating.
Second, have everyone share either something they really like, or thought was
confusing, about the passage. This will not only give way to good discussion, but it
hopefully will excite your child to learn more about the passage at youth group.
CONNECT AS A FAMILY: SHARE & ASK
Faith can flourish in the context of healthy and intentional relationships. Start by sharing your life
and then asking your child about hers. Without judgment, model honesty and let her know you
want to hear about her life.
SHARE: Share a time when you didnt understand what God was doing in the
moment, but how, when you looked back in time, you could see what He was up to.
ASK: Are you going through a hard time right now? What good could God possibly be
doing in it?
BLESSING
A blessing can be a spoken prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words of
encouragement and guidance over your child. For more information about blessing your child,

(Childs name), may the Sovereign God bless you and keep you strong. May
He give you grace to go through difficult times in life with patience. May He
give you comfort in knowing that He is in control as you seek Him with all
your heart.
