2. CALIBRATION TEST

Refer to Tolerance Documentation Manual SVA62 for weights and tolerances.

For non-Mettler products, cross reference to a compatible METTLER TOLEDO

balance for weights and tolerances. See COMPETITIVE CROSS REFERENCE

Guide #M-604, 11/195.

1. Test Wt.:
For Analytical sets record the actual corrected weight value
(6 decimal places) for the appropriate weight density.
(Example: 100.000019g or 199.999948g)
For Precision sets record the weight value and the appropriate number of
decimal places. (Example: PM400, readability: 0.01g; calibration test weight:
200.00g)
2. Cal Tol. (Calibration Tolerance): Indicate the allowable +/- calibration tolerance.
Some tolerance sheets do not indicate a calibration tolerance. Where none is
indicated, use the METTLER TOLEDO reference book, Tolerances for Balances and
Scales.
3. As Found: Record the balance reading displayed (normal mode) during initial checks
of the service procedure. If balance is not working, then write "Balance Not Working"
in this area, unless noted in another heading.
4. As Left: Record the "as left" reading (normal mode) after service and calibration has
been performed.
5. Pass/Fail: Place an "X" or a "CHECK" mark in the box indicating the appropriate
Pass/Fail condition for both As Found readings and As Left readings. To Pass, a
balance must fall within the indicated Calibration Tolerance.

3. LINEARITY TEST

Refer to Tolerance Documentation Manual SVA62 for weight values and

tolerances.

For non-Mettler products, cross reference to a compatible METTLER TOLEDO

balance for weights and tolerances. See COMPETITIVE CROSS REFERENCE
Guide #M-604, 11/1/95.

1. Test Wt.: Indicate the nominal weight value being used. Example: 50g; 4Kg If no
weight is shown in Technical Documentation, SVA62, check the appropriate service
manual for any specified weight, or refer to the current version of the METTLER
TOLEDO reference book, Tolerances for Balances and Scales.
2. Tol. (Tolerance): Indicate the allowable +/- linearity tolerance.
3. Method: Place and "X" or a "CHECK" mark in the box next to the method used to
check linearity.
4. As Found: Record the actual balance readings displayed (normal mode) at each step

during initial checks of the service procedure. If the balance is not working, then write
"Balance Not Working" in this column.
5. As Left: Record the actual "as left" readings displayed (normal mode) at each step of
the test after service and calibration has been performed.
6. Pass/Fail: Place and "X" or a "CHECK" mark in the box indicating the appropriate
Pass/Fail condition for both As Found readings and As Left readings. To Pass, a
balance must fall within the indicated Linearity Tolerance.

4. CORNER LOAD TEST

1. Test Wt.: Indicate the nominal weight value being used (Example: 50g; 4Kg)
2. Tol. (Tolerance): Indicate the allowable +/- corner load tolerance.
3. As Found: Record the displayed error (normal mode), with the appropriate sign, at
each step of the initial checks of the service procedure. If the balance is not working,
then write "Balance Not Working" in this column, unless indicated under another
heading.
4. As Left: Record the displayed error (normal mode), with the appropriate sign, at each
step of the test after service and calibration has been performed.
5. Pass/Fail: Place an "X" or a "CHECK" mark in the box indicate the appropriate
Pass/Fail condition for both As Found readings and As Left readings. To Pass, a
balance must fall within the indicated Corner Load Tolerance.

5. REPEATABILITY TEST

Refer to Tolerance Documentation manual SVA62 for weight values and

tolerances. For non-Mettler products, cross reference to a compatible
METTLER TOLEDO balance. See COMPETITIVE CROSS REFERENCE Guide
#M-604, 11/1/95.

1. Test Wt.: Indicate the nominal weight value being used. If none indicated, check the
current version of the METTLER TOLEDO reference book, Tolerances for Balances
and Scales.
2. Tol.: (Tolerance) Indicate the allowable repeatability tolerance. If none indicated refer
to the operating manual specification table.
3. Record the displayed value of TEN (10) weighing. Record the entire weight value as
displayed.
4. SD=: Record the calculated Standard Deviation.
5. Uncertainty: Calculate, then record the uncertainty> (CALCULATION: Standard
Deviation from Step 5.4 multiplied by 3 equals uncertainly.)

6. REMARKS

file://A:\vw0062_files\vw0062.htm 12.07.00
Work Instruction for F-438 Seite 4 von 5

Explain what was done to the balance to correct any failed condition and any
additional comments as to its overall condition. Use back of form, if needed.

(Example: Environmental conditions, condition of balance, parts replaced,

temperature, etc.)

7. TYPE OF WEIGHT SET

Place and "X" or a "CHECK" mark in the box indicating the type of weight set
used for the Calibration Report.

8. WEIGHT SET INFORMATION

Apply current preprinted weight sticker or carefully and legibly write the
information from the Weight Standard card supplied with each weight set.

9. SERVICE TECHNICIAN

The name of the service technician who performed the service and calibration.
Sign your name, if legible, otherwise, print full name then place your initials after
your name.

10. CALIBRATION DATE

The date the listed balance was calibrated.

11. NEXT CALIBRATION DATE

The date when the next calibration is due. Write the month and year; unless the
customer requests a specific due date (Example: Sept, 1997). This information
should be the same as the service sticker that is attached to the balance.

12. METTLER TOLEDO PROCEDURE: TD#:

The Procedure # (VPxxxx) from the Field Service Procedure Manual of the
procedure used.

13. PAGE OF PAGE

In the first space write the sequential page number of the report. The second
space indicates the total number of report pages for the customer.

(Example: Page 2 of 10, Page 1 of 1, Page 15 of 25)

Attach any supporting data used as an aid in the testing and use of this
calibration report. This would be any printed data from the use of the LCPT45
performance tester or computer printouts of service programs.

14. TERMINOLOGY:

1. Capacity: The maximum load a balance is capable of weighing without damage.

2. Weighing Range: The range within which a balance may be used for weighing.
3. Tolerance: The allowable +/- deviation from a given anticipated target value.
4. Nominal weight: The weight value of a mass without regard for any decimal places,
correction factors, or test weight errors.
5. Readability: The smallest difference in mass that can still be read on a balance.
6. Normal Mode: Normal weighing mode of the balance.
7. (NOT SERVICE OR TEST MODE)
8. Standard Deviation: A mathematical value used to evaluate a balance with respect
to its Repeatability. The mathematical formula is as printed on Form F-438. If only a
simple calculator without the required functions is available, then SD maybe
determined by the following rule of thumb:
(Largest Value) - (Smallest Value) = SD
3
The value is comparable to using the indicated formula.
9. Uncertainty: An estimated value of systematic errors which cannot be measured and
includes the random errors (standard deviation) of a measurement.
