Self-Reflection on The Current State of Wellness

After evaluating the workplace assessment score there are clear areas where the educators

at the local elementary can make healthy and active changes. The first question of the workplace

assessment regards physical activity. It is recommended that adults engage in physical activity or

exercise at least five times a week however, the educators reported they never engaged in

rigorous physical activity or exercise at least five times a week. The next two areas where

changes can be made are in emotional and social wellness. Question 7 asks how often one feels

overwhelmed and the educators reported they often feel overwhelmed. Questions 8 asks if one is

open to meeting new people and the educators reported they are sometimes open to this social

interaction.

Despite the areas that need healthy and active changes there are areas where educators are

successful. Evaluating the assessment results lead me to notice educators at the local elementary

were successful in nutritional and intellectual wellness. The second question of the Workplace

Assessment regards nutritional wellness and the tenth and eleventh questions regard intellectual

wellness. It is recommended that adults have servings of one cup of vegetables and two cups of

fruit daily and educators reported they often have these recommended servings. Questions 10 and

11 ask if one engages in critical thinking and has innovative and create solutions to issues or

problems and reported they often engage in this kind of thinking and solution solving.

I believe this information can help me greatly in leading a workplace towards a healthier

and active lifestyle. Evaluating the Workplace Assessment give me a clue into where areas need
5

improvement and adjusting. For example, I know educators do not engage in rigorous physical

activity or exercise so I can incorporate physical activity or movement in weekly meetings,

professional training, and create a running club for the educators. I can also implement strategies

that focus on controlling emotions and focus of emotional wellness during professional

development meetings. With the information I gather from evaluating the assessment I am then

able to produce strategies for change.
