Advertising is legalized form of lying

100% yes. Most advertisements and advertisers make totally false and tall claims, which
is far from reality. And they call it creativity. It is nothing but lying and society has
tacitly grown to accept it.
If the strict definition of "cheating" is taken, as is commonly defined in most countries
across the world, then most advertisers and the companies would have to be put behind
bars for the offence.

It is not entirely clear what is meant by legalised form of lying. There are lies that
advertisers cannot legally utter, and then there are exaggerations, poetic over-
statements, or misleadingly incomplete information which advertisers can get away
with. A great many of the statements that advertisers make are not literally true, but
then, they are not expected to be taken literally. Our chocolate is out of this world, it is
so delightful that you will forget all your problems and feel like you have gone to heaven.
OK, maybe you won't, but then, you didn't really take those claims seriously, did you?
In most countries, actually lying in an advertisement is illegal. The art of the sale is not
in lying, but in manipulating the truth to make it sound like you actually need a product
you don't. So basically, no.

Both. It is legal and sometime they lie. There is a law against false advertising.

yes it is. there is such thing as false advertisement which is illegal but people are hardly ever prosecuted
for it because it is so easy to get around it. we are constantly being bombarded with advertisements that
fill our minds with falsities throughout every day of our lives. the human race would be a much more real
and much less materialistic entity if there were no such thing as media.

Advertising is all glitter and little truth.

• The stars prmoting the product most of the time dont take its responsibility moreover
they not even use the product.
• Advertisers have to depict what the customers like, enjoy keeping in mind the clients
requirements.
• As the products increase and so the ads, glitter is a way to ensure brand recall, a
very important factor for the advertising firms.
• Most of the time compnies over showcase there product qualities which is not fair.
• There are lot of examples like a person eat a chewgum and become so cool that girls
start following him or take example of a famous perfume where if guys use that
perfume girls start running behind them all these are totally fake.
• Advertising is a business and not charity. Companies hire advertisers for their
promoting their products and it is not vice versa.

• Advertising firms carry responsibility of providing customers with unbiased


information about products.
• In order to have a healthy bottom line the ad firms cannot shun their responsibility
towards the society.
• Ad firms have to develop the ethical content into their processes to ensure fair deals.
• There are advertisement available which show the notice that it is medically proven
or they are having proof.

• Advertiements are somewhat made to attract the costomers and some time they
might only glitter but some times they are also true

Point:"All that glitters is not gold" but then it could be diamonds or easily affordable American
diamonds. The choice lies in the hands of the chooser. Advertisements are making people aware of the
myriad of choices available to them and sometimes also about the things which could be a necessity.
Due to fierce competitions, obviously they sometimes tend to deceive people by adding little flawed
details. But then consumer is also becoming more aware and has ability to choose cautiously.

Point:Against:Intense advertising may influence people's mind to the extent that they prefer only those
product which are being advertised massively and equi potent product is overlooked these techniques
hamper the small and mid scale industries to a large extent.

Point:Advertising is a key tool of marketting in today's time , fake advertising cannot attaract the
customer in long run

Point:advertisements in today's over competitive and marketing world is a necessity but it is a tool
which we customers can use to our advantage,it tells us about the choices available to us,ensures that
we clinch the best deal....so in my opinion i feel we should extract the truth from the glittery ads and
help ourselves

Point:true advertisement r only glitter.. it doesn't matter their objective is to earn more profit and
that's wht they do.. but the betterment of the product and the company is to create realistic
advertisements

Point:There is so much competition today the advertisements have to somewhat unrealistic,but the
consumer is intelligent enough to understand the difference between what's fake and what's not.the
concerns doing that have to do so in order to increase the sales and survive the cut throat
competition.

Point:advertiement totaly depand uopn the parson..so if they like so it"s truth,,but if they don"t like...so
it"s glitter.......

Point:Advertisements are a way to get to the customers.They are basically designed to influence the
customers.Its upto the customers intelligence to buy the product or not.But adverstisments are
necessary so that the customers are able to compare select the best of what is available within the
market.

Is advertisement waste of resources

will advertisement spoils the growth of a country or it will boost its growth.can the amount spend on
advertisement can be used something good for poor and illeterate..
not at all.. ads are very useful in getting a customer close to the product. let funds for defense purposes of
a country be diverted to help the poor

Apparently it works, that's why they keep making them.

Advertising is a waste of resources

 Advertising gets the consumers close to the products.


 People are aware of the pros and cons of a product. They can make their own decisions of what’s good for
them.
 Creates job opportunities for many people.
 Advertising is a mean of promoting goods. Since more people become aware, there is more revenue.
 Advertising on TV is a big relief from the daily tele soaps that have nothing but drama.
 Advertising plays an important role in passing information such as AIDS, contraception etc. people are
aware of health disorders and how to overcome them.

Against

Spending so much on advertising is not called for.

 Instead of this, money can be spent on other issue like poverty etc.
 Most of the celebrities that are endorsed don’t even use the product. It is simply to mislead the consumer.
 Most of the children products like games; chocolates are simply to lure children even though the product
may not be healthy.
 By spending a lot of money, the brand producers are not even bothered whether or not their product is being
sold or not.
 Most of the times, the advertisements are not even ethical. To promote their product, the advertisement can
go against any other product of some other brand.

Most of the times advertisements spend so much of money on flashy videos, images, animation etc without having
the need to help consumers realize how economical can the product be.

Advertising, to summarize is acceptable. Although, it does not make sense to spend a lot of time and money by
endorsing big celebrities, end of the day, what matters is the product not the ambassador. People, due to curiosity
may even try and use the product, however, not for a long time. As long as the consumers are aware of the “facts”,
advertising is fine.

advertising isn't a waste of resources. since it is essential wen u introduce a new product in d market.

It is not a waste of resources at all , in fact it is a road due to which the resources can be exploited to its maxium use,
not only this it also helps people for their knowledge update. Without advertisement, can anyone knows what new
benifits one can get in market sitting at home?…
No I dont think so.
Because effective advertisement can increase our org’s status in the market. It can attract new customers to our
products or services. There are lot of benefits of advertising.
