[THE SHADOW MAN VOODOO]

[So in this brief article I am going to try to look at the contents of the various Chhaya Purusha
Sadhanas I've found on the web. Then once I've looked at the contents I will compare the differing
features and then we will try and extract the essence of the Chhaya Purusha Vidyathat is we will
try and understand the basis of these phenomena acording to our view, which is a minority view, but
one which we hope you can try on whilst reading through our article here. It is a flexible view that
won't ask you to accept anything really. As a matter of fact this view is an imaginary one and has
only one ruling principle which is the principle of Imagination. Now we would not ordinarily
expect you to accept a view which says that "everything that exists is imaginary." But today we are
asking you to suppose for a moment that, there exists a certain plane of reality where all the
phenomena are imaginary. Now let us suppose that we lived there and that it was just like this place.
So much like this place we are here now as to be virtually indestinguishable. It's a very physical,
and dense sort of imaginary place where bodies seem very much the same day-to-day and the
objects there and their interactions are changing, and consistently so, but they are not solid, and real
per se. They are illusory, imaginary and made up only of the stuff behind the imaginary mind-stuff.
We are just going to go ahead and call it mindstuff. In that imaginary realm there is a book, a bit
like what you are reading now and it is called the Chhaya-Purusha Internettantra-Vidya in it is a
method by which yogis in that relam use their imaginations to change the way that the world is and
is going and how it is doing things. Some of these yogis are so high-up in their powers in that
imaginary world that they are now starting to be able to imagine the laws that are governing and
controling that world. In fact, some of these yogis have become entirely identified with the various
principles which govern that Imaginary Universes. So it can be said that these yogis are godlike
beings who control the very fabric of their own being. Now it might just be possible for us to begin
to approach that kind of station and power. It is not likely that we, in our mortal lives, in such a
dense and physical realm as ours could go so high as some of those Imaginary Yogis. But we could
begin to approach thier realms and powers by means of spiritually attuning ourselves to them.
Moreover, I am now seeing in my mind an opening of the powers wherein their imaginary-real
world and our real-imaginary world are at a point of intersectionthat is our minds are comming
into ressonace such that we are able to transact certain energies between us. I am getting the feeling
that that the transmission has nearly ended and that my brain would need another three doses of frop
to continue. But alas, i smoked my last of it just forty minutes past.

Invoke the Shadow Men and Its Power - Chhaya Purush Sadhana Siddhi Mantra

Each and every human have their two identities. One identity is always with you who eat, drink,
walk like you and with you always, but second one is the another identity which is most and very
powerful then you. These both take birth with you, but due to lack of knowledge human could not
do this ritual and cannot activate or invoke the power of this 2nd identity. Due to this uselessness our
most powerful energy or strong power became dead or in sleep mode always. Remember this
identity never end even after our physical body death.
[we don't buy all of this really, but it does frame up the sadhana well enough. We would say that
there isn't an identity really. We would say, everything, really, is imaginary. Beacuse everything is
imaginary, certain powers of the mind, when cultivated, can be used to change that which is
imaginary. The first identity is the bodymind complex which is our familiar home, which is
imaginary, material and real. The second identity is a latent power drawn up from the combining of
a number of elements, the shadow, the mindstuff, and the ritual forms. We'll talk more about that
later. As you can see, the second identity is less physical than our first identity. So we would
consider it less real, and more imaginary in our usual way of thinking about the world. We will soon
find that the fact of this imaginary beings lack of physicalitythe fact that it is more imaginary
than our usual body-mind complex which makes the imaginary second identity it so useful to us.]

The system of 'Svarodaya shastra is frquently used to predict death. Describing this method may
cause unnecessary anxiety to readers, Also, death does not always means death of the physical body.
The word is frequently used to symbolise spiritual illumination. Therefore, most of the methods of
predicting death have been left out. Only the way of visualising the shadow man (chaya purusha) is
given here, as this has a wider meaning.

To visualise the shadow man, find a deserted temple, or burning ghat, or the bank of a river,
or any other hoyl place unfrequented by people. Bathe in the river and sit on a kusha grass mat with
you back to the rising sun. Steady your gaze on the neck of your own shadow. Do this for about two
hours every day, for seven days. On the eight day, while gazing at the shadow, recite the following
mantra a hundred and eight times:

HRIM PARABRAHMANE NAMAH

(Hrim, I bow to the Transcendental Reality)

Then look up into the sky, and there you will see the 'chaya purusha'--the form of your
cosmic personality projected on to the sky.

If you see the shadow man as a complete, bright and grey figure, it is auspicious and your yogic
practices will be rewarded. You will eventually gain spiritual immortality. If the form of the shadow
man is vericoloured you will attain all the eight occult powers. If the projected shadow man appears
yellow, you will have to guard against illness. If a red shadow man is seen, your heart will be filled
with fear in anticipation of future violence and aggression. But always remember that ill effects can
be overcome with the inner Guru's grace, with proper mantras and meditation. If the shadow man is
dark black and its body appears mutilated, the either death or emancipation is near. [We think the
visions described are generalities not so usefulother texts give contradictory meanings. We
implore the practitioner to use the clairity of inner vision to discern the meaning of his auto-
nirmita.]

Chapter 88- Discourse on Chaya Purusha Lakshanam

Swami started explaining the Chaya Purusha Lakshanam kind of yogic secret to them saying,
Son! One should concentrate his mind on ones own Kantha (neck) and then with a sacred heart
should look at the clean sky. Then Chaya Purusha would be seen by the individual. If he appears
to be shrunken then that indicates loss of wealth for the individual. If he appears in yellow color,
that indicates profit and long life for the individual. If the Chaya Purusha appears as bulky
(hefty), that indicates wealth. If he appears in blue color, that indicates death for the individual.
If he appears in red color, that indicates that the individual would gain position, or throne (Rajya
Prapti). If the Chaya Purusha appears without a head, that indicates the death of the individual
in next six months.

Swami continued, If that Chaya Purusha appears to be having a hole in his center (belly) then it
indicates famine for the country. If he appears with brilliance (Tejas) that indicates that the earth
would be fertile, and prosperous. If the Chaya Purusha appears without shoulders, that indicates
that the individuals sons would die. If he appears without having a phallus, that indicates that
the individuals wife would die.

Swami concluded saying, Moreover, if an individual practices seeing this Chaya Purusha daily,
then that Chaya Purusha would become like a friend to the individual and would bestow him the
power of becoming a Trikalagyani (one who can know past, present and future).
Govindayya thanked his father many times and everyone went inside the Mutt for Shva Puja (to
worship Lord Shiva).

"Chaya Purusha Sadhana: Meditation on the Shadow Man

The cultivation of the shadow man is another method of concentration. To do this exercise, stand in
the sun when the sky is perfectly clear so that your shadow appears clearly and distinctly in front of
you, approximately five to ten feet in length. Focus your attention on your shadow at a point at the
base of its neck. Hold this view with the eyes steady, the lids slightly opened, for as long as you can.
When the eyes become tired and begin to tear, close and open them a time or two, and then raise the
head to look into the clear sky. There you will see a figure, a full shadow which is capable of
appearing in many colors. Hold this figure in your concentration for as long as you possibly can. By
practicing this exercise regularly, the shadow will become transparent, and then you will see two
shadows. The first, an outer shell, will appear gradually more transparent, and eventually you will
see features on the shadow. Finally these features will turn to face you and you will realize you are
looking at yourself. This is a concentration exercise which may be done as a part of your usual
practice. This practice may also be done on a moonlit night. It is only suited to those localities
where cloudless skies are available for several months."

Thousands of years back great Indian Seers (Rishi/Munis) were well aware of this great divine
potential (latent) in every human beings soul. They have elucidated these divine potentials and
energies in great detail. Further they have thrown light on how to activate these Divine Powers too.
As an exception some rare world individuals manifest these Divine Potentials with fair ease simply
because in their past lives they had accumulated them with painstaking efforts. In some other cases
loving divine grace from a great realized saint can activate these powers in a devotee whose psyche
is spiritually ripe and mature. Else for the rest they must execute spiritual practices like Yoga,
meditation, devotion etc to activate these latent Divine Powers. Of course those rare individuals
who activate these powers relatively swiftly due to grace are not well documented and hence lesser
known. A point to be noted is that these rare souls are generally unaware of how to utilize these
Divine Powers for welfare of the world. As against these individuals an aspirant of Yoga who makes
due spiritual efforts to activate these latent powers is much more capable of utilizing them for world
welfare at will. This is because Yoga aspirants are very much in contact with subtle divine centers
that manifest Divine Powers in mans psyche sacred and focused psyche.

In Tantra Science (of Indian origin) spiritual practices pertaining to a Chhaya-Purusha (shadow
man) has been described minutely. This shadow man is a subtle bodied living being and is part
and parcel of every individual. When we activate this shadow man we are actually manifesting
one more subtle body whom we can direct to act in a particular manner; meaning this shadow
man on activation is always at our beck and call. It is like a living ghost and has Extra Sensory
Potentials (ESP) like any ghost. A great Yogi has that excellent capacity of carrying out varying
tasks simultaneously with the help of his/her activated subtle body. Without exception every world
denizen possesses this all powerful subtle body and yet it remains latent because not all of have that
giant capacity to activate it. Those exceptionally gifted individuals who manage to work hard in
activating Divine Powers not only become masters of this shadow man but become knower of the
divine laws of the subtle world too. In addition to all this their intellectual and sensitive/sentimental
(Bhava) potentials of the mind too become limitless. No longer will their thinking be narrow-
minded. Instead their sacred mission becomes creation of A BEAUTIFUL BORDERLESS
WORLD.

Living Tantra, Part 2: Studying with a Tantric Master

This belief became a firm conviction one afternoon at the ashram of Swami Sadananda, my beloved
spiritual teacher who had guided me during a time when despondency and hopelessness almost
engulfed me. He was a wise man with vast experience of both worldly and spiritual life. He lived in
austerityeating little, sleeping little, speaking little. Although he was a great tantric adept, he had
shown very little interest in sharing that part of his life.
That particular afternoon, I had just walked into his ashram and had not yet paid my respects when
he spoke loudly, Good, good. You are here.
Pointing to a young man sitting before him, he said, A couple of years ago, this man came to me
crying that he was going to die in the next few days. When I asked him how he knew that, he told
me about a vivid dream. I tried to console him but he argued that so far all of his dreams had come
true. He had sent telegrams to his family members, and many of them were with him when he
visited me. When I failed to convince him he wouldnt die soon, I invited his death and told him to
talk to it face-to-face. Upon hearing directly from the mouth of death that he would live for a long
time, his fear vanished. He completed his engineering degree, and here he is, visiting me with his
family, alive and healthy.
The young man and the people with him nodded in confirmation. I was totally unprepared to hear
about such a powerful tantric feat from Swami Sadananda. It was not his style to acknowledge his
spiritual accomplishments so publicly, let alone appear to boast about them. I felt he was using this
incident as an opportunity to talk about a subject he had been avoiding for many years. As soon as
the young man and his family left, I asked, Swamiji, what was that all about? How could you
invite someones death and make it talk face-to-face with someone who is alive?
He replied, In fact, I invoked chaya purusha and guided the young man to learn about his future,
including the time of his death.
Swamiji, how unfair! I exclaimed. Visitors come and for them you invoke chaya purusha so they
can be free of the fear of death. You call me your beloved disciple, a slice of your own heart. . .
Swami Sadananda chuckled. Why do you want to see magic? Why dont you become a magician
yourself?
Thank you, I said, and he immediately got up and walked toward the sandy beach of the Ganges.
I followed. Without expecting any response, he began speaking. Every seeker goes through a stage
of confusion, doubt, and skepticism. Distinguishing the real from the unreal is not an easy task.
However, once its done, its a great accomplishment. Light and shadow go together. So does what
is genuine and fake. Tantra is a great science. With tantra you can see the mindits visible and
invisible forces. With tantra you can see how this world is the minds magic, and the mind is your
greatest frienda friend who accompanies you all the way to your final destination.
He stepped into the river, washed his hands and face, sipped water, and asked me to do the same.
Afterward, I followed him onto the beach. Now Swami Sadananda began to explain, Chaya
purusha is a unique tantric practice. The first stage of the practice involves gazing at ones shadow.
Depending on the power of your concentration, it may take a few days, a few months, or even a few
years to complete this first step.
Gaze at your shadow for as long as you can without blinking. A time will come when you cannot
see your shadow. Look at the sky and you will see the outline of your shadow in white. First, this
white shadow will be on the far horizon. With practice, it will keep coming closer and will become
increasingly vivid until it is as if another you is standing in front of you without touching the
ground.
As the second and final step of the practice, you infuse this shadow with prana (the life force). You
can talk to it as though you were talking to your second self. Today, Im going to show you yourself
through my yoga Shakti. You may pose any question; it will answer you.
He asked me to stand with the sun at my back. It was around four in the afternoon so my shadow
and I were almost the same size. As guided by him, I fixed my gaze on the neck of my shadow for a
few seconds, then looked at the horizon. There I saw a white negative of my shadow. I was amazed.
Then I became excited as the shadow began moving toward me. It became overwhelming when I
began to see myself clearlythe same face, the same eyes, and even the same clothes. The shadow
floated through the sky and stopped four or five feet in front of me. I became disoriented and began
to feel myself in both bodiesthe one on the ground, the other in the air. One began to look at the
other, yet a single sense of I-am-ness pervaded both bodies.
With this experience, an unbearable fear descended. I began to question: Who am I? The one
standing on the ground or the one hanging in the air? How could I be in two places? I felt like
screaming. I did not want to be in two placesI wanted to be in the body that stood on the ground.
I felt an enormous pressure in my head from my desire to be in the body below and my
unwillingness to be in the body above. But I did not know how to make it happen.
I heard Swami Sadananda say, Remember, it is a chaya purusha created by me. You are neither this
body nor that one. For the time being, however, tell yourself that the body on the ground is yours
and it is you. The one in the air is just a chaya purusha. Compose yourselfI am with you. You can
ask three questions about anything you wish. The chaya purusha will answer you.
His voice took away my fear, and my courage and curiosity returned. I asked, How were you
created? How did I feel myself in you? And how do you know more about me than I do?
The chaya purusha spoke, This form [body] is an extension of the mind born of asmita [pure I-am-
ness] of the one standing next to you.
Looking at Swami Sadananda, the chaya purusha then said, It is his sankalpa[determination] that
made room in this body for your mind. With that mind came all your desires, attachments, and
everything else you identify with yourself. Thus you felt you were in me. The mind that occupies
the biological body is totally dependent on the senses, brain, and nervous system. It is always
preoccupied with one thing or another. It busies itself counting things in the outside world and has
forgotten how to see what lies within. But the mind placed in this body is free from all those
limitations and thus can see all that which is normally obscured.
With this, the chaya purusha began to float away and finally dissolved on the distant horizon. With
no words to express myself, I followed Swami Sadananda as he walked to a nearby banyan tree. We
sat down in the shade and Swami Sadananda said, There are tantrics who have mastered the
science of chaya purusha. With the help of chaya purusha they predict the future or materialize an
object out of thin air. Using the power of chaya purusha they perform miracles. I showed you chaya
purusha not because it is the most important aspect of tantra and not because you need to practice it.
I showed you so you will open yourself to comprehending the vast range of tantra.

[G]iven a most powerful and diverse Islamic Spell, which is believed to grant the one that Master
the Spell the paranormal physic powers to cast a most powerful and effective Spell. The Voodoo
Spell can be used to remove an enemy from his path, [...] or to put any person under a Voodoo Spell
of enchantment, control or management [Vashikaran, Mohini and Akarshan Prayog.]

This spell is drawn from the Muslim Tantra called Chaya Siddhi Tantra-- a Tantra to cast Voodoo
Spells by unleashing the powers of the Shadow. This particular spell is known as the Chaya Purush
Mantra Sadhana and the procedure is given below:

The experiment has to be commenced at Midnight in an empty room on the day of Nauchand- -
Sunday. The first Sunday of the New Moon as the the Islamic Calendar. The practitioner has to light
a Mustard Oil Lamp and stand naked with his back facing the mustard oil lamp. After this, he has to
chant the Caya Siddhi Mantra shown 303 times, using any kind of rosary to keep track of the
number of repetions. While chanting the mantra, the practitioner has to fix his gaze upon his
shadow, which is being cast by the oil lamp.

Mantra: ALIF ALLAHA, ALAF RAHAMAN, ADAM SHAFI ADAM SUBHAAN | AAJHAJHIL
SHAITAN KAREN HAMARA KAAM NAA KARE TO TERI MAA BAHEN PAR 303 TALAK-
TEEN TALAK-TEEN TALAK-TEEN TALAK || [we don't know arabic, but we see the names of
God and Man and Satan. We say: the function of the incantation is to pattern the mindstuff.]

This same procedure has to be followed for the next 39 days, (40 nights total.) After the completion
of the Mantra Sadhana, the practitioner is said to gain Mastery over the Chaya Purush Spell.

To cast a Voodoo Spell on any person for the purposes mentioned in the first paragraph, the
practtioner has to follow the same procedure, which has been given above just once. While chanting
the Mantra and fixing his gaze upon his shadow, the practioner has to think about the person he
wishes to put under the Voodoo Spell and for what purpose.

Chaya Purusha Sadhana: Meditation on the Shadow Man

It is only suited to those localities
where cloudless skies are available for several months.

For an accomplished one, this shadow may be invoked to determine whether it is an auspicious time
for certain important events or actions. The shadow man will reveal the state of the tattvas in one's
body, which will, in turn, reveal the secrets of life. The scriptures say that if the practice is done
faithfully for twelve years, the shadow will be with one both day and night. It will guide him
concerning his future and give him insights into the depths of the waking, dreaming, and sleeping
states.

After a long time the shadow may be made to appear to the practitioner whenever he wishes. It will
rise and leave the body through the portal of the eyes. Then the shadow can be projected upon a
screen or wall. When the aspirant can perceive every part of his form in the reflected shadow, he
obtains perfect control over the breath, and obtains beneficial results from all of his acts.

Thus, seeing his mental body he will develop an understanding of all things about himself.
Reaching this stage, his passions will become controlled and he will attain enlightenment.

Chaya Purusha Darshana Around 9 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon, stand keeping your back to
the sun, fix your gaze at the centre of your neck in the shadow and stare at that point for about three
minutes. Then, shift your gaze and fix it at a point in the sky above. You will see your huge form in
the sky. Observe the colour. If it is green, it indicates that after seventy two 39 hours, you are going
to fall sick. If you find a limb missing or black in colour, it indicates that that part would be injured
in a mishap, after seventy two hours. You need not panic if you find any such abnormality. You can
go home or to a quiet place, sit facing East, close your eyes and repeat a special Mantra Om
Brahmane Namaha 108 times. Then you have to practise the technique above and look at your
shadow in the sky. If you find the shadow clear, it indicates that the sickness or the mishap is
averted or minimized. If you find the same abnormality, you have to repeat the Mantra again and
again, till you find your shadow normal. 40 Techniques like these are not usually printed. They are
given to the individuals selectively. But I thought, because it benefits many, it should be printed.
--0--
[So in summary we are seeing the same basic process being explained.

First thing is a good seat someplace where we won't be disturbed.

Then we sit or stand, with light at our back (day or night it doesn't much matterso long as the
shadow is clearly seen.)

Then we focus attention by concentrating our gaze on the base of the neck of the shadow we cast.

Then we focus our mind on that spot and hold it there by using the incantation.

The shadow man appears, we hold our gaze and incantation, despite the activity of the shadow man.
Rember that everything is imaginary. You are using the force of your concentration to impress an
afterimage onto your retina. You are also,at the same time impressing an image of your shadow onto
the mindstuff which is condensing as the shadowman. This is happening automatically, whenver
you are using the ritual form and the incantation and strong focused attention. Focused attention,
combined with the ritual forms is directing your mindstuff into the thoughform of your shadowman.
So now, in order for it to ripen to fruition, you have to habituate this practice until the thoughtform
condenses from merely imaginary to imaginary-real. It's pretty common for a Hindu ritual text to
specify 40 days for the completion of a ritual. I don't know all the reasons behind this. Also, you'll
notice some of the texts call for specific timings and other don't. In almost all schools of occultism
astrology and the timing of a ritual is considered quite important. I don't know much about
astrology, and only the very basics of occult timmings. So I can't really comment on those aspects.
Although, I would hazard a guess that if you practice this diligently, every day for twelve years, you
won't have to worry about exactly what time to begin.

Once the shadow man appears then there are multiple things we can do:

Continue to habituate the practice.

Talk to the shadow man.
Look at the sky and see how the shadow man appears there.
A lot more.

The more you habituate the practice, the more mastery you'll have over the shadow man voodoo.
Eventually, this should lead you closer to enlightenment--or you'll get tarpped by the illusions
conjured up by your own imagination. The Shadow man is a thoguthform made up of minstuff
using you and the ritual form as the pattern. Make sense? You are using your unique vibration as the
base. You put that into the ritual form. Out comes your shadow man.
Now then we come to a question, what about the mirror method? In the first method we are gazing
at the base of the neck of our shadow. Whereas in the instance of the mirror it is the eyes which we
focus on. Let us just do a simple exercise to determine why it is that the mirror is good for this
practice. Stand before a mirror in the dark. What do you see? Your shadowy reflection of course, the
very same type of object we were using before. Now we shift the gaze to the eyes and you will
notice something very strange and powerful happening as you look into the eyes of your own
shadowy reflection. Holding your gaze, you will know the reason for this power as a feeling.

Now if you practice diligently, you will always have a powerful helper right at your side. Anytime
you see you shadow, he's there. This is Shadow Man Vooodoo Power!

Now the texts seems to say that 2-3 hours is the amount of time each session takes, for the initial
period of 40 days. My own experiments show that some of the first signs that the thoughtform is
taking shape can happen in just a few minutes (seconds even) if the concentration level is very high
and the focus easy. Tension in the body is thoughts and mind-tension. Relax your mind with the
Mantra.

Some of he texts say we are supposed to do Guru Yoga before we start the ritual. Basically, this is
an Eastern method for getting in touch with The Best and Only Thing Ever, the source of the wish
fulfilling Philosophers Stone. Let me say that usually the meditator will worship his teacher as a
form of God Alimighty or the Supreme Buddha, or Allah I guess. I don't know how that works
exactly in a moslem contexbut anyway. We can skip this part, or we can do something that is
similar. If you were a Christian, or a Martinist you could perhaps do a Martinist exercise of
Christian Gnostic provedance which is where you imagine that jesus is inside your heart and that he
is there in the form of a tiny light, a mustard seed-like being of Christly energy. Then you focus in
and see jesus there in your heart, lighting up the world and you focus on that. Now you could do it
with some other holy object if you like. You can use any object really. But the one you think is the
holiest thing you can think of is probably the best. You could even just imagine a wish fullfilling
jewel.]
