ROLF WALLIN was born in Oslo in 1957, He had studied music Pedagogy and composition at the Noregian State Academy of Music, where he now is teaching arranging techniques. His output is dominated by chamber music, mostly using a more modern musical ‘ style than in this piece, but he has also written pedagogical music, choral music, jazz and orchestral music. ELEGI for trumpet and organ (or piano) is meant to be a simple, but earnest piece, written in memory of my sister. Harmonically it is influenced by jazz, but it is not to be played as jazz. Neither should it be performed too romantically or sentimentally.
