RUNNING HEAD: Workplace Assessment Assignment 4

After completing the workplace assessment, I found some interesting results regarding

myself in my current workplace, which is a race track located in Chandler, Arizona. I created the

workplace assessment based on eight dimensions of Healthy Living and Wellness. Seven of

those dimensions, according to University of California: Riverside Wellness Program, are social

wellness, emotional wellness, spiritual wellness, environmental wellness, occupational wellness,

intellectual wellness, and physical wellness. The eighth dimension I based a small portion of the

assessment on is Nutritional Benefits and wellness. This assessment is made to help workers

within the workplace understand their working environment. After taking the self and workplace

assessments, one should have a stronger understanding of their living style.

Number five and number twenty-four in the assessment address the social wellness

dimension. I answered Yes to number five, and No to number twenty-four within the

workplace. At the race track, where I currently work, I have built strong and professional

relationships with all the employees. This is a healthy aspect of the social dimension. However,

the employees and I rarely meet outside of the workplace. I have worked at the race track for

almost two years, and I have only been outside of the workplace with coworkers one time. This

can be both good and bad. In my opinion, it is important to keep coworkers as coworkers and not

intervene your social life with your professional life. On the other hand, going to lunch with

coworkers or celebrating holidays as a team can be beneficial.

The emotional wellness within the workplace is unhealthy, according to the workplace

assessment. There are high levels of stress in the office, and the amount of work per employee is

unhealthy. Not only is the emotional wellness level low within the workplace, but the spiritual

wellness levels are also unhealthy and low. There is a lot of stress in the workplace, and little

time for improvement on peace within the workplace. The workplace is currently improving their

environmental wellness. In the workplace, there are not a lot of options for food. This makes it

difficult to eat healthy unless I prepare ahead of time. I do not fulfill the nutritional requirements

of a healthy lifestyle, unfortunately.

Multiple changes can be made to improve the company, and their benefits/wellness. For

example, the company can provide opportunities for employees within the workplace that release

stress, provide healthy nutritional options, and improve communication. Breaks throughout the

day can be helpful, especially in such a stressful environmental workplace, and even a place

dedicated for the employee break times can create relief. Another improvement is an extension

of food options. With limited food choices, finding healthy food that meets the nutritional

expectations is nearly impossible. Lastly, communication is one of the biggest improvements

needed within the workplace. I believe the workplace currently lacks communication, and doing

lessons or having meetings to go over what is going on in the workplace will help manage the

communication skills. Another potential change could be influencing employees to stay active,

through challenges within the workplace and competitions to help each employee strive to do

their absolute best.

The business is successful in occupational and intellectual wellness. Each employee is

dedicated to bettering him or herself. Since I started with the company, I have learned more

about different softwares, and how to manage different documents. Intellectually, I can try new

ideas for the tracks marketing department, and express different strategies for the track. With

this information, I can better understand how management works, and communicate with other

employees regarding their strengths and weaknesses.
