The battery contains dilute sulfuric acid. If the leaked liquid of the battery had a
direct contact with your clothes or skin, wash off with clean water. If the liquid
infringes into your eyes, wash with clean water immediately then go to a doctor.

Do not dispose of used batteries because they are to be recycled. Regarding


the battery replacement, contact the business department, the nearest regional
branch, international branch or office, or any agent of Japan Radio Co., Ltd.

Date : Fill out the manufactured month and year on UPS battery.
Replace before this date: Fill out the battery expiration date on UPS battery.

1. Replacing DC Fans with a Connector

1) Open the front door of NDV-1800/1850 Recording Control Unit (RCU), and press [CARD STOP]
switch on Main Control Board (MCB) to stop recording.
CARD LED on MCB goes off when the recording stops.
2) Set the power switch OFF on Power Supply Unit (PSU) to turn off the power of VDR/S-VDR
system.
3) Set the breaker switch OFF on the distribution switch board that supplies the power to RCU on
board.
4) Remove the inner cover of RCU, and then disconnect the power input (relay) connectors, J201
and J202 that are connected to the lower left of PSU.
5) Disconnect the power I/F (output) connectors, J401, J402, and J403 that are connected to
the upper right of motherboard.
Remove the cable ties that bundle up the disconnected connector cables.
6) Unscrew the 2 fastening screws of PSU, and then slowly draw out PSU forward.
7) Disconnect the fan connectors, J309 and J310 that are connected to the front right of PSU.
8) Pull out fan cables through cable holes.
9) Unscrew the 8 fastening screws of fans.
10) Mount new fans on PSU, and then install PSU into RCU.
Be careful that the direction of both fans is outward.

2. Replacing USP Battery

The UPS battery weighs approximately 5 kg. Because the stopper is not attached,
slowly draw out the battery by tightly holding its bottom.

1) Disconnect the battery connector J404 and thermal sensor connector J405 that are
connected to the lower right of motherboard.
2) Unscrew 2 battery fastening screws, and then slowly draw out the battery.
3) Install new battery into RCU and secure it with 2 screws.
4) Connect the battery connector J404 and thermal sensor connector J405 to the motherboard,
and mount the inner cover.

3. Affixing Periodic Replacement Indication Label

After completing the fan and battery replacement, fill out the necessary information in the periodic
replacement indication label, and then affix it on the front door of RCU. (See figure 3.)

4. Updating the Expiration Date Registration of Battery and Fan

Upon completing the battery and fan replacement, update the expiration date by the maintenance
software.
