Attendance and Certificate Requirements
(revised 6/9/15)
Requirements for each academic year (which consists of two semesters) are as follows:
Up to six absences are permitted during the academic year; however, assignments for those weeks should
still be submitted when you return to class. Should a situation arise and you are unable to attend at your
regularly scheduled class location, you may attend class at another location in the year you are attending.
If you attend class at another location you will NOT be considered absent. In an emergency, additional
absences may be allowed but only with the permission of the instructor. Please note that work done at
home does not substitute for class attendance.
Assignments are due each week in class. In the case of a serious circumstance, any assignment may be
turned in late if agreed upon by the instructor. All assignments must be completed in the year they are
assigned.
A pass/fail take-home assessment is given at the end of each semester. Students must pass both
assessments in order to continue to the next study year and/or graduate.
Tuition must be paid in full by the end of each academic year.
FOR CATHOLIC BIBLICAL STUDENTS ONLY: Attendance at a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Year Prayer & Orientation Day
each year is strongly encouraged. Prayer & Orientation Days are scheduled prior to the start of a new
school year. If you are unable to attend, you should notify your instructor at the first class you attend in
the fall. Your instructor can provide you with any handouts and/or important information that was
disseminated at Prayer & Orientation.
FOR STUDENTS REGISTERED FOR REGIS UNIVERSITY CREDIT: Registration and payment is due no later than
November 1st. Regis University is paid for the credits at the beginning of the academic year; therefore, all
tuition is non-refundable. Your end-of-year grade is submitted to Regis by June 15th. You may contact
your instructor regarding your grade, and official transcripts can be ordered from the Regis University
website at www.regis.edu. Please DO NOT call Regis University directly with questions about credits
offered through our Schools; instead, first communicate through our office at 303-715-3195.
FOR AUDITING STUDENTS ONLY: The auditing option is available only to those students who have
graduated from the 4-year Biblical School or 2-year Catechetical School program. Please coordinate with
the instructor at the beginning of the academic year to let them know you are an auditor. You may attend
the lecture portion of the weekly classes; you may not participate in the small group discussions.
Workbooks may be purchased from the instructor.
The Catholic Biblical School awards a Certificate of Biblical Studies to individuals who have fulfilled the above
noted requirements at the end of their four (4) years of study.
The Catechetical School awards a Certificate of Completion of the Pillars program to individuals who have
fulfilled the above noted requirements at the end of their two (2) years of study.

Snow/Class Closure Policy
(revised 6/9/15)

For snow closures, the Biblical and Catechetical Schools follow the lead of the parish and the school district in
which the parish is located. Given the diversity of our locations, weather conditions can vary greatly; so just
because class at one location has been canceled for weather reasons does not automatically mean that classes
in other locations have been canceled. Please reference the procedures below and contact your instructor
with questions.

CBS classes that are cancelled for any reason, including inclement weather, are subject to the following
process for prompt notification of all students:

1. The CBS instructor will leave a message on his/her voice mail as soon as the closure of any location has
been determined.

2. The CBS instructor will then email his/her class. If you do not have e-mail, please inform your
instructor and either the instructor or a member of the staff will contact you via telephone.

3. If any instance including inclement weather has prohibited you from attending class, please e-mail
your instructor unless the instructor has specifically requested you to do otherwise.

4. Note: Some classes have created telephone trees to ensure that all students receive prompt
notification of any closure. If you have volunteered to be part of a telephone tree, please contact the
person(s) you have volunteered to contact.

Again this process will be used for the cancellation of any class for any reason.

Website Notifications:
For additional information on possible closures, you may check our website at www.sjvdenver.edu/biblical-
school. When available, closure information will be posted on the top of the first screen.

Office Voice Message:

We will try to update the after-hours voice messaging system at the office with the status of any closures.
That number is 303-715-3195.

Please note that student safety is of utmost importance. If you are concerned about weather conditions,
please contact your instructor regarding attendance and alternatives for that particular class.

Other
(revised 6/9/15)

Minimum Class Enrollment:

The schools are committed to remaining at a parish location for either the 2-year period of the Pillars
program or the 4-year period of the Biblical School program. To be good stewards of our limited
resources, all classes are subject to a minimum enrollment and we regularly evaluate attendance at each
location. In the unfortunate situation where we may have to cancel a class location, it will be handled as
follows:
1. If a new first year location does not meet our enrollment projections, we will merge that class with
another location and students will be notified accordingly. Any tuition paid for a canceled location will
be refunded should the schedule at the new location not work out for a student.
2. If a subsequent year (i.e., Years 2, 3, or 4) location drops below a sustainable enrollment level due to
attrition, we will evaluate suitable alternatives and may have to cancel that class location. Students
will be notified accordingly, and any tuition paid for that following year may be refunded at the
request of the student.

Copyrighted Material
Workbook materials are proprietary information. Please do not reproduce any copies for use outside of
the school without written permission. Additionally, audio recordings of class lectures may be allowed
with permission of the instructor. Recordings can be shared with class members, but should not be
distributed to others outside of the school. For questions on copyrights, please contact the office.

Classroom/School Event Decorum

As stated in the Archdiocese of Denver Code of Conduct, Our behavior toward one another is at the
essence of discipleship. The intent is to reinforce our Lords commandment to love one another through
certain practical principles and guidelines. As members of the Church founded by Christ, those who
minister must always seek to uphold Christian values and conduct. As good citizens and responsible
members of society, we must endeavor to act properly at all times, obey all laws which seek the common
good and employ morally licit means to attain the common good. As followers of Jesus, we are all called to
live the Gospel and its mandates.

We believe this to be true for the behavior of our students as well, and as such, we ask that students:
Exercise just treatment of others;
Seek to relate to all people with respect and reverence; small group discussions are to be conducted
with patience and courtesy toward the views of others;
Seek to support others, encouraging each person in living the life to which God calls him or her;
Support the classroom atmosphere with behavior that is conducive to the learning process, including
minimizing classroom disruptions.
