Objective: The students will practice differentiating between le and el endings. The
students will be able to apply this when they are doing written assignments and editing
their own or others written work.
Directions:
1. Players draw for each other and read the word aloud.
2. Players must spell the word correctly and then move the marker to the nearest-le
or el ending that spells the word
3. The game continues until one player reaches the bushel. (To get to the bushel, and
el word must be drawn. A player who draws an le word must move backwards
and continue playing from that space.)
Match!
Objective: This game will help the students will learn the differences in beginning sounds
(B,C,D,F,G) and practice identifying what the beginning sound is. The students will
apply this in other learning activities when identifying what is just the middle or final
sound in words. It will also help foster interest in reading and writing.
Kindergarten [K.2.D Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds
(phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.1 (This
does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)]
Directions:
1. Divide the deck equally between the two students.
2. The students turn their top card over at the same time.
3. The first student to recognize if they are a match and says Match gets the cards.
They should then explain to their partner why they believe it is a match.(If there is
no match the students continue to turn over cards until a match occurs and one of
them calls it out.)
