Our learning targets for reading this week have included:
*the ending sound s, -s/z/; the ending ing
*blending words.
*rhyming words
*understanding syllables
*understanding Main idea in our reading
*reading informational text
*learning new vocabulary.
*being able to identify declarative sentences.
*reading just right books

we are focusing on appreciation.
We want to show appreciation to
one another and we want to
Learn to appreciate what we have!
Waukazoo as a community does
that through our annual Food
Drive and in our Veterans Day
assembly! We will also work in
our room at showing appreciation
to each other and other members
of our Waukazoo family! PLEASE
know I appreciate all of you and
your support of what I do in the
classroom!
We completed our science unit on
Sorting this past week. We have
learned a lot about different ways to
sort objects. Weve learned about
texture, magnets, forms of water
(solid, liquid, & gas), and about how to
observe and record results like
scientists!
This week we moved from science
into Social Studies. On Monday, we
began Junior Achievement! JA is a
community organization that partners
schools with a business volunteer
from the community to learn about
social studies and economic concepts.
In first grade our learning targets
include:
*Students can identify producers and
consumers.
*Students can identify the difference
between wants/needs.
*Students can identify ways we earn
money!
We will have 5 JA lessons before
Thanksgiving!
Math
This weeks math learning
targets has focused on:
*finding unknown partners in
equations
*solving number stories with
unknown equations
*relating math mountains and
equations
We have practiced how to
solve number stories also! One
of the most important parts of
solving number stories is
CAREFUL READING of the story.
We have learned to circle & box
certain things.
EX: Ms. DeVine has 4 pencils.
She finds some more. Now she
has 9. How many pencils does
she have now? (Some represents the
