Gun Violence Committee: The House


Y Y N N N blocked, 233-182, a Democratic bid to force
floor debate on a measure (H Res 367) to
create the Select Committee on Gun Violence
Prevention comprised of six members from
each party. A yes vote was in opposition to
debating the legislation.
Rules for Joint Employers: The House
Y Y N N N voted, 242-181, to change the way the
National Labor Relations Board assigns legal
liability when two employers control the terms
of a workers employment. A yes vote was to
pass HR 3441, which lessens employee
rights to file workplace actions.
Expedited Hydropower Approvals: The
Y Y N N N House voted, 257-166, to name the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission the lead
agency for licensing hydropower projects. A
yes vote was to pass HR 3043 over
arguments it imperils state, local and tribal
water rights and environmental protection.
Deregulation of Stock Sales: The House
Y Y N N N voted, 232-188, to allow certain startups to
sell relatively small sums of stock in private
transactions free of Securities and Exchange
Commission transparency rules. A yes vote
was to pass HR 2201 over arguments it could
lead to fraudulent offerings.
William Wehrum, Environmental Official:
N N The Senate confirmed, 49-47, William L.
Wehrum as assistant administrator for the
Environmental Protection Agencys Office of
Air and Radiation, where he will direct efforts
to dismantle the Obama administrations
Clean Power Plan.
