Compressive strength variation of G-40 concrete

There are 6 different trial mix has done in different location to identify optimum mix for Defense
Headquarters complex construction project in pelawatta.

G 30 concrete has used in raft foundation of building and key requirement is to control the heat inside
the concrete to prevent thermal cracks in rafter block. Mockup test has done to identify the effect of
heat in such rafter block and it is provided that fly ash mixed concrete give positive results. According to
that decision I analyze different concrete mixes to identify the identical mix proportion.

1. CECB main laboratory has done 4 different trial mixes.

a. G 30 concrete with ordinary Portland cement
b. G 30 concrete with ordinary Portland cement Extra - total cost of this mix has higher
than OPC and Norechchole fly ash.
c. G 30 concrete with norechchole fly ash. This fly ash provided from Norechchole coal
power plant. Cost is less for this fly ash.
d. G 30 concrete with DIRK fly ash. This fly ash provided from India. Cost is higher than
norechchole fly ash.
2. MAGA laboratory has done one trial mix.
a. G 30 concrete with norechchole fly ash
3. DHQC site lab has done one trial mix.
a. G 30 concrete with norechchole fly ash

Conclusion

1. OPC mix has achieved strength early. Fly ash mixes shows delayed setting time.
2. OPC Extra achieved strength before Fly ash mixes.
3. OPC Extra and DIRK Fly ash has capability to achieve high strength. But those mixes spent high
cost than fly ash mixes.
4. MAGA Lab mix achieve higher strength among the Norechchole fly ash mixes. So it is the
optimum mix which has higher strength and low cost.
