Competencies
III. Procedure
A. Daily Routine 1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Checking the Cleanliness and Orderliness of the classroom.
4. Review of the rules of differentiation.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation/Activity Activity on the equation of a circle and finding equations from a given
equation.
2. Analysis Guide Questions:
1. How did you find the activity
2. How do you find the derivative of y in the given function?
3. How can we use Chain Rule in this type of function?
3. Abstraction Given a generic equation relating x and y, to find dy/dx:
1. Differentiate both sides of the equation with respect to x, keeping in mind
that each y is implicitly a function of x. That is, whenever an expression
involves y, apply the Chain Rule.
2. Due to the Chain Rule, after performing the above differentiation, some
terms will have a factor dy/dx, some none. Collect all those with dy/dx on
one side. Those without on the other side.
3. On the side with dy/dx as a common factor, we can factor out dy/dx.
4. Application: Find dy/dx:
1. 2 + 2 = 25
2. y' = dy/dx for x3 + y3 = 4
3. y' = dy/dx for y = x2 y3 + x3 y2 .
IV. Assessment Find dy/dx.
1. y' = dy/dx for 2 + 2 = cos(2 + 2)
2. Find y' = dy/dx for = 2 + 2
V. Assignment Submit five examples of implicit differentiation with solution.
