Guiding Questions

Focus Child - Amy

The following tool/questions will support the collection of information about the
children. Keep adding to this.

What are her strengths?

Independent

What are her interests? What areas does she show you she is interested in?
Does she spend lots of time there? Does she talk about the interest? Does
she share books about that interest? What delights her? Does she show
enthusiasm for learning?

Tuesday 24/10/17 Amy shows an interest in the numbers (tracing and

counting numbers). She likes to spend time there. She also like showing me how
well she has done it. She liked to complete all laminated number and shapes
work sheets (even thou, there is only 4 shapes and 4number work sheets).

Are there things that she might need help with?

How does she communicate? How is she responding when people speak
with her? Does she participate in conversations, demonstrate listening and
turn taking in conversation, recall rhymes, explore and engage in print
viewing and making?

12/09/17 - Amy does not have a group of friends she plays with. She did play
with Jay (childrens mothers are friends and similar ethnic backgrounds). But
she soon lost interest. Amy likes playing in the sandpit making mud cakes and
pretending to cook (by herself). Little to no communication between Teachers
and Amy. Sometime, a blank look on her face. Not replying to Teachers.
Could be hearing or language barrier.

How does she move on physical challenges? How does she use equipment
like balls/bats/shovels/toys/pencils/ brushes/ sticky tape etc.?

Wednesday 06/09/17 (Today Supervising teacher got permission forms back off parents)- Amy is good
at moving physically. She is very flexible and sits on the mat in an awkward
position.
