SUBJECT: NEW DS PUMP MODELS FOR GM WARRANTY PROGRAM

General Motors has requested that Stanadyne implement a method of distinguishing

the DS pumps they purchase for their warranty program from those that are sold
through their Service Parts Organization (SPO). Therefore, Stanadyne has introduced
two new DS pump models as GM warranty program pump models. These two pump
models will only be available through GM warranty/technical service and are identical
to the standard service replacement pump models with the exception of the GM part
number and the nameplate color. The nameplate used on these GM warranty program
pumps is shown in Figure 1.

As part of this change the original GM part numbers for service replacement pumps
has also been changed. The following chart identifies all current production DS pump
models and their respective part numbers.

Service
Should a GM warranty program pump model be received for service, it may be
bench tested using the corresponding service replacement pump model test routine
for both Test as Received for Service and for Test Following Pump Service.
Note: Pump model DS4-5521 is tested using the DS4-5459 calibration routines.
Therefore, pump model DS4-5942 would also be tested using DS4-5459 calibration
routines.

When complete pump replacements are required, the corresponding service

replacement pump model should be used (e.g. models DS4-5068 or DS4-5521), as
the new GM warranty program pump models are only available thru the GM
service network.
