The L-3 Communications' Enhanced Satellite Hub Multiplexer provides
enhanced multiplexer features per MIL-STD-188-168 and is interoperable
with the legacy Tactical Satellite Signal Processor (TSSP) Multiplexers.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
L-3 Communications Enhanced Satellite Hub
Multiplexer (model D4 SHM-1337) supports
point-to-point, hub-spoke, mesh and hybrid
network configurations and can be used as
either a hub or spoke. When used as a hub,
up to six spokes are supported. The D4
SHM-1337 is packaged in a two rack unit
(2RU) chassis, which has a modular back
panel allowing for future growth and
connector changes. The D4 SHM-1337
provides enhanced, legacy and 50 Meg
mode interfaces to terrestrial equipment
(balanced NRZ, CDI, bipolar T1/E1, HSSI)
and aggregate interfaces (balanced NRZ and
ECL) to satellite modems. The D4 SHM
1337 is managed via an EIA-232/485 port
connected to a personal computer. The
SHM-1337 has three operating modes that
are selectable:
Legacy mode - Interoperable with and
replaces legacy TD-1337 Tactical Satellite
Signal Processor.
Enhanced mode - Supports fully
connected mesh networks with up to six
nodes, interoperable with legacy and
enhanced TSSP multiplexers. Supports
aggregate data rates up to 20 Mbps.
50 Meg Mode - Supports aggregate data
rates up to 50 Mbps and is compatible with
SSP and DDU data processors. Can be
operated in Legacy, Enhanced or 50 M mode.
