Cheat Sheet/Roadmap
ACT 1
1. Prologue
Begins in 4.
Repeats in m. 23, 24, 28, 29 are normal repeats.
Repeat in m. 30 is a vamp.
Repeat in m. 30i is a vamp.
Direct segue into next number.

2. Be the Hero
Begins in 4 (slightly faster than previous tempo).
Repeats in m. 3-4, 5-5, and 7 are all vamps.
Repeat in m. 8-9 is a safety treat it like a normal repeat unless I signal additional (the
singer should start at the top of the second repeat).
m. 99 is a vamp (its been 4x so far, but Ill keep it open for now).
m. 104 and m. 110: Ill stop on 2 for the fermata, then give 3 (the pickups are on the
and of 3).
m. 118-119 is no repeat no vamp just play like a normal measure (1x).
Applause segue into the next number.

2a. Be the Hero playoff
Begins in 4, same tempo as previous number.

2b. Before the Swamp
Begins in 4.
Very short break before next number.

2c. The Swamp
Begins in 4.
m. 5-6 are played 7x total.
m. 47-48 is a vamp.
m. 62 is a vamp.
Very short break before next number.

3. I Know What You Want
Begins in 4.
m. 1 is a normal repeat.
Almost direct segue into next number (Ill add a 1-2 beat pause).

3a. Edwards Vision
Begins in 4, slightly slower than previous number.
Very short break before next number.

3b. I Know What You Want Reprise
Begins in 2 for vamp, m. 9 is in 4.
Applause segue into next number.

3c. Witch Playoff
In 4.
Ill show the 80s fade.

4. Alabama Wedding
Begins in 3.
Slightly faster at m. 13, but still in 3.
Accel. Begins in m. 17 leading to me going into 1 at m. 21.
Drop all dynamics to piano in m. 59 (rest of the number will be underscoring).

4a. Just Take Another Look
Starts in 4.
Will go into 2 at m. 4 old quarter note becomes the new half note.
m. 28-31, 32-33 are normal repeats.
m. 44-45 is a vamp.
Semi-direct segue into next number (for patch/instrument changes but make them
spirited).

5. Stranger
Begins in 4.
Watch for the rit. in m. 55 its a bigun.
m. 56 is A tempo.
Applause segue into next number.

5a. The Phone Call
Begins in 4.
Semi-direct segue into next number.

5b. After Stranger
Begins in 4.
(It ends in 4 as well).
6. Two Men in My Life
Starts in 4.
m. 1 is played 3x total.
m. 2 is a vamp.
m. 31 is a vamp (and an annoying one at that).
m. 40 is a vamp (what is up with these 1 beat vamps??)
m. 52 is a. you guessed it! Vamp (and another 1 beater).
m. 54 is a vamp (and in 4! Hooray!) with an 80s fade.

7. Ashtons Favorite Son
Starts in 2 with a sick drum intro.
m. 35 goes faster.
m. 43 I will go into 4; the old half note becomes the new quarter note.
m. 57 is slightly slower (should match the old pulse from the top of the number).
m. 65-66 is a vamp with an 80s fade.

7a. Edward Walks
Starts in 4.
No repeats at all in this number; play everything 1x only.

8. Out There on the Road
Begins in 4, colla voce.
Tempo starts at m. 9
Be careful of the landmine fermata in m. 38
m. 61 is a normal repeat (NOT a vamp).
m. 68 is a vamp.
m. 108a is a vamp.
m. 112 is a normal repeat (NOT a vamp).
Applause segue into the next number.

8a. Will and Josephine
Begins in 4.

8b. The Tornado (of Pointlessness)
m. 1 is on cue. Then add a caesura between m. 1 and 2.
Wait for a good while between m. 1 and 2.
m. 2 is in 4.
Only a short break before the next number.

8c. Calloway Circus
It doth be in 2!



9. Little Lamb from Alabama
Starts in 2. Swing feel.
Direct segue into next number

10. Time Stops (but not really)
Starts in 4 the half note from the previous number becomes the new quarter note.
Applause segue into the next number.

10a. Alabama Tag
In 2 (same tempo as #9).
Add a repeat on m. 1. Percussion we discussed the new rhythm.

11. Closer to Her.
In 2.
m. 1, 3, and 5 are dead bars for dialogue.
m. 2 and 4 are on cue.
m. 5-6 is a normal repeat.
m. 45 goes into 3, Ill beat quarter notes.
Back into 2 at m. 56c
m. 102 is a vamp watch, its a weird exit.
m. 116-117 is a normal repeat.
m. 145 is a dead bar for short dialogue.
m. 159 is a dead bar for medium dialogue.
m. 204f is a vamp.

12. Daffodils
Begins in 4.
m. 9-10, 11 are vamps.
m. 28 is a dead bar for long dialogue (there, got all 3!)
m. 29 is vocal only he has a pickup into the next bar.

13. Entracte
Begins anti-climactically in 4 with a pickup.
m. 36-39 is a regular repeat.
Semi-direct segue into the next number.

14. Red, White, and Blue True
Begins in 4.
m. 11 is a vamp (trumpet, piccolo, and clarinet play 1st x only).
m. 12 is a drumroll out of time.
Back into time at m. 13
m. 21 is in 4 and colla voce.
m. 28 is now in 2 (this is a change from rehearsal please note).
Applause segue into next number.

14a. Red, White, and True Playoff
Begins in 2. (Same Tempo as previous).

14b. Campfire Dance/Daffodils Transition
CUT m. 1-16. We will start a m. 17 in 4.
m. 21-22 is a normal repeat.

15. Fight the Dragons
Begins in 2.
m. 1 is a vamp.
Applause segue into next number.

15a. Stranger reprise
Begins in 4. Old half note should equal new quarter in theory, at least.
Accel. in m. 1(which is NOT the first bar).

15b. Eden River
No play for the orchestra just sit back and enjoy the horrible MIDI sound that they
think a western should sound like.

15c. Pre-Showdown
Begins in 2!
m. 11 is a vamp.
m. 18 is a vamp.
m. 19 is in 4 the old half will become the new quarter.
Direct segue into the next number.



16. Showdown (what did you expect? The last number was PRE Showdown!)
Begins in 4.
Accel. in m. 8-9.
Start rolling down a hill at m. 92
m. 132 is a dead bar for dialogue (with a drumroll).
Very short break before the next number.

17. I Dont Need A Roof
Begins in 4.
m. 5 is a vamp.
Applause segue into the next number.

17a. Jenny Hill
Begins in 4.
Continues in 4.
Ends in 4.

18. Start Over
Begins in 4. Swing the 8ths.
m. 1-2 is a vamp.
m. 3 is a vamp (vocals last time through).
m. 17 is a dead bar for dialogue.
m. 18 is vocals only, but in time.
m. 34-35 is a vamp.
m. 36 is a vamp.
Straight 8ths at m. 37, then back to swingin in m. 42

18a. Start Over Reprise (which sounds slightly redundant)
Begins slowly in 4.
Theres an accel. starting in m. 34 that goes to m. 38

Begins in 2.

18c. Time Stops Reprise
Begins in 4.
19. Whats Next
Begins in 2 (but switches to 4 rather quickly). Follow the yellow brick quarter notes.
m. 1 is a vamp.
m. 5, 8, and 11 are regular repeats (NOT vamps).
m. 60 is a vamp.
Caesura in m. 109 is good.
m. 110 is slower.
Direct segue into the next number (violin and viola hold over).

20. How it Ends
Begins in 4.
Just watch in this song especially it ebbs and flows often.
Caesura in m. 65 is good.
m. 68 is a dead bar.
Direct segue into next number.

21. The Procession
Begins in 4.
m. 1 is vocal only piccolo comes in m. 2 (Ill be beating through everything).
m. 10 is where the band comes in slightly faster.
m. 42-43 are no vamp no repeat bars play 1x only
m. 44 is a regular repeat (NOT a vamp)

22. Be the Hero Reprise
Begins in 4, same tempo as what we left.
Applause segue into next number.

23. Bows (the cast, not the things the string players are holding)
Begins in 4.
Hold back slightly at m. 23
Rall in m. 32 is gut.
Applause segue into next number.

24. Exit Music (please dont leave until the number is completed)
Begins in 4.
Rit in m. 17 for a slower tempo in m. 18 (just like in #8).
