Dear Sir/Madame,

We would like to invite you to the Ninth Edition of the International Conference Alcoholism and Other
Addictions: Psychosocial, Historical and Therapeutical Issues. The conference will take place in Alba-Iulia,
Romania, on the 8th - 9th of December 2017

The conference is organized by The University 1 Decembrie 1918 Alba Iulia and The National Museum of
Unification Alba Iulia, in partnership with Babe-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca and Real Support
Association.

The aim of the conference


The overall aim of this multi-disciplinary conference is to bring together specialists from different branches of
science in order to promote an interdisciplinary dialog about topics related to the issue of addiction, alcoholism
and all other addictions, psychosocial, historical and therapeutical aspects, to stimulate addiction studies and to
inspire and encourage new public policies and more effective practice in the field.

Format and content of the conference

The conference will run over two days. The program will feature a plenary section and specific sections.
Presentations will run for 15 minutes to be followed by 10 minutes of questions and discussions.
We welcome original research papers, presentations on topics including, but not limited to, the following areas:
1. History of alcohol and other drugs/other addictions, concerning their production/ practice, using and
addiction;

2. Sociological, psychological and medical patterns in the addictive behavior;

3. Cultural and spiritual issues of addiction; the multicultural and transcultural perspectives;

5. Social control and public policy concerning alcohol and other drugs, in regards to their production, trade,
consumption and recovery from their effects;

6. Good practice models in the addiction approaching, old and new challenges;

7. Prevention, therapy and rehabilitation in addiction.

8. New drugs and new other addictions in the contemporary world.

Publishing: All submissions are subjected to a double peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published
in the journal Social Research Reports. The Journal is indexed in EBSCO, Index Copernicus, SCIPIO, WZB,
NHS, Central and Eastern European Online Library, DOAJ, SSRN. Social Research Reports is accredited B+
by CNCSIS. (www.researchreports.ro)
All the papers presented at the conference will be published in a volume at the Accent Publishing House, Cluj-
Napoca.

200 word abstracts should be submitted to the claudiupian@yahoo.com. Abstracts may be in Word,
WordPerfect, following this order:

a) author(s), b) affiliation, c) email address, d) title of abstract, e) body of abstract, f) up to 10 keywords.

E-mails should be entitled: Abstract Submission

The language of the conference is English.

Please use plain text (Times Roman 12) and abstain from using any special formatting, characters or emphasis
(such as bold, italics or underline). We will acknowledge receipt and will answer to all paper proposals
submitted.

The organizers will provide and will cover the costs of hotel accommodation for two nights, meals and
transportation between hotel and the conference place, also the publication costs. The organizers are not
covering the travel expenses of the participants.

Participants are required to pay a fee of 70 EUR for each participant/accepted paper; if there are two authors
and two participants the fee is 100 EUR, if there are three or more authors and participants -50 EUR each one.
