Instructions: Complete any of the following items and earn points. You need to earn 100 total points to receive full credit for the
assignment. You may earn those points in any combination of ways you would like to. This is an INDIVIDUAL project. You may
NOT work on this project with another student unless specified. Make sure you put your name on everything you turn in!!

Design a Scientific Experiment-100 pts. May do once this term. You may do this project with one partner, but must write your
own reports.

Design your own scientific experiment. You must use all of the steps of the scientific method. Your project MUST be approved by
Mr. Pierce before you start, with a signed statement. You must try your experiment at least 3 times. Take either photos or video of
your experiment. Once your experiment is completed, you must write a 1-page report of your findings. Each student must write
their OWN report. Your report must include the following:
Each of the steps of the scientific method
A copy of your observations
Photos (or video burned to DVD or USB drive)

Read an approved science book

If you would like to choose another book, get it approved by Mr. Pierce. Write a 1-page evaluation of the book. You must also
include a statement signed by you AND a parent/guardian saying that you read the book. Your evaluation should include two
parts:
A summary of the book
An opinion of whether other students should read the book (persuade me why or why not).

Create an educational video 50 pts. May do once this term. You may do this project with one partner.

Create and educational video using a topic from this term. Your video must be at least 5 minutes long and teach concepts you
learned. If you have a partner, both of you must have speaking parts. The video may be turned in on a USB drive or burned on
a DVD.

Diorama or 3-D model 50 pts. May do once this term.

Project must relate to the term. Carefully plan out your project and take the time to create quality work. Do not copy others work. You
must include a written summary (at least 5 sentences) of what your work is and how it relates to science.

Board Game- 50 pts. May do this once this term.

Must relate to the term and show an understanding of content. Come up with your own original game. You must create your
own board, cards, pieces and rules. Explain thoroughly how to play the game. Your information must be accurate and clear.
