Dear Neuse Charter School Performing Arts Families,

Welcome back to another school year at NCS! We are filled with excitement for a
brand new year! Students gain valuable skills such as self-discipline, self-confidence,
cooperative learning, and teamwork putting on a play production.

The NCS Drama department performed Annie in 2016 on the Neuse Little Theater
Stage and we performed The Wizard of Oz in 2017 on JCC, Paul A. Johnston
Auditorium. We hope to continue the tradition of producing a new show each year
and grow in the process.

This packet contains important information for the production rehearsals and
performance, most of which you are to keep, however, we do need the signed video/
photography permission form and contract returned to us at or before the first
rehearsal. Please read this with your performer. The rehearsal schedule is included,
please keep track as to what day your performer is needed.

We need all of the helping hands we can get in order to produce a quality production
like years past. Sign up for the committee that best fits your skill set.

We are looking forward to working with such a talented cast!

Thank you,

From our Teacher Team

Expectations
Genius is 1% talent and 99% percent hard work -Albert Einstein

It also comes from knowing what to do, how to do it, and the willingness to work over
a long period of time to get the job done well. With this in mind, we hope each
student will approach this musical with the desire to achieve and be successful in all
that you do. These are the basic expectations for the musical. All school-wide rules
will apply in every rehearsal.

Have your script, music, highlighter, pencil and all other materials needed for
every rehearsal.

Perform in rehearsal when asked to.

Stay quiet when others are performing.

Show total effort at all times.

PRACTICE at home every day! (Essential to success!)

Successfully complete ALL assignments. (Memorizing Lines and Choreography.)

Perform in all performances throughout the duration of the Musical.

Our students will Respect, Reflect, Represent, and be Responsible.

dependent on the adequate preparation and achievement of each student. When a
lack of preparation or achievement is evident, the director may place student on a
probationary status pending improvement or loss a part/ removal from the
show.
4. Behavior: Student will behave appropriately and responsibly at rehearsals
and take direction cooperatively. He/She will keep quiet during rehearsals, no

the student on probation or dismiss him/her from the show.

on the show). The student agrees that his/her friends or acquaintances will not be
permitted to remain at rehearsals. Parents should pick up at 4:30PM. Failure to
do so in a timely manner can result in removal from the show. Cell phone use is
not allowed during rehearsals, performances, or otherwise.
6. If called upon, student agrees to assist with props, scenery, microphones, sound,
lighting, curtains etc. upon request of the Director to keep rehearsals and show
running smoothly. On the other hand, the student will not touch props, scenery,
microphones, sound equipment, lighting, curtains, etc. unless specifically asked to do
so by the Director.

Costumes/ Hair/ Props

Families provide, at their own expense, basic pieces of costuming and props that the
student will need for their character in the play. Student agrees to care for costumes
and props that are loaned or provided to them, and to return them promptly after the
show in good condition. Families with students in a selected group that need to look
like each other will need to collaborate and work together to achieve unified style.
Costumes need to be ready 8 weeks prior to performance for more public teasers.

Rehearsals
Each student is responsible for having their script, pencil and highlighter. Participation
in daily rehearsals is a requirement of every cast and crew member. Any after school
rehearsals and/or events are required. You will be given as much advance notice as
possible usually several weeks for any after school rehearsals.
Script Book Storage
When we give out the scripts they are numbered and placed inside a ziplock bag with
a highlighter and pencil. This is your (the Students) responsibility to keep up with and
turn in the script at the end of the production. If you loose your script book you will
be charged for your booklet.
