Evaluation Scheme

Midterm 25%
Final Exam 40%
Assignments 10%
Project 25%

Mid-Term and Final Exams

The mid-term exam will be held on Wednesday October 18, 2017 (tentative date) during lecture time in the
class. It is your responsibility to ensure you are available for the exam. All material covered by that time
will be included in the exam. The mid-term exam will be closed-book and equation sheet will be provided
if necessary. There would be no make-up test for mid-term exam. Students who do not attend the mid-term
test due to valid medical reasons may write the final exam for 65% (a valid medical note must be submitted
to the instructor).

The final exam is scheduled by the university. The date and place will be announced accordingly. The final
exam is closed-book and equation sheet will be provided if necessary.

Only non-programmable ENCS Faculty approved calculators are permitted for the mid-term and final
exams. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the exams.

The final marks will be submitted as letter grades and there is no fixed relationship between marks and
letter grades. In the event of extraordinary circumstances beyond the University's control, the content and/or
evaluation scheme in this course is subject to change.
Project
There is a team project with two students per team. Every member of the team should be familiar with all
parts of the project. There will be a presentation on the project on November 29, 2017 and each member of
the group will be required to make a portion of the presentation.

Deliverables of the project:

1- Final report including literature review, assumptions, formulation and results. Format: Microsoft Word
file + PDF- hardcopy and softcopy are required.
2- Analysis files (computer code, Excel sheet etc.) used to obtain numerical results. Format: softcopy is
required.
3- Power Point presentation. Format: softcopy is required.
4- Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science Expectation of Originality form signed by all team
members.
Submission of project deliverables is due on November 29, 2017 in the class.

Code of Conduct and Students with Special Needs

1- Students should be aware of the University and become familiar with the Universitys Code of Conduct
located at: http://www.concordia.ca/students/academic-integrity/code.html.

There will be a zero tolerance policy pertaining to violations of this code. In the event of an offense, an
Incident Report will be completed and submitted to the Dean.

2- Do not copy, paraphrase or translate anything from anywhere without sating from where you obtained
it! (http://www.concordia.ca/students/academic-integrity/plagiarism.html) Plagiarism may be punished
by failure of the exam, or the course, and may lead to expulsion from University.
3- Information on the Access Centre for Students with Disabilities is available at
http://www.concordia.ca/offices/acsd.html/

Student Responsibilities
As the material is cumulative, keep up with the content covered in the weekly lectures, solve the
assignments yourself.

If you are uncertain of certain concepts, seek help right away; make use of your instructors office hours.
