A RARE PROFESSION
(1) When we ask ourselves who popular heroes in our society are, we often name people in
the field of sports. They are our role models because they have worked so hard to be up there with the
worlds best. It is very useful for us to know how they did this. If we know some of their methods, we
may be able to use them to be successful in our own life.
(2) All the top athletes in the world say that it is very important to be mentally strong for
competition. First of all, it is very important to concentrate on what they are doing. During the
competition, there are crowds of people watching them. Some of the audiences may support you, but
some may not. It is thus very important for a sport person not to think about them, but to focus on the
game. It is unpractical to be so much worried about the crowd because it is something that the
athletes cant control.
(3) Many successful athletes imagine that they are in the competition before the event. This
means that they have prepared things. When it is time for the competition, they seem to know that
they should not worry about losing.

HAVING A PET
By Dwiwarnas Anonymous Student in Batch 17
I believe that having a pet is a good idea because there are several benefits to it, whether
from scientific, emotional and educational reasons. It helps responsibility and the sense of empathy,
it improves overall health and it also boosts my overall mood even when looking at my pets.
In my opinion, having children taking care of the pets from a young age teaches them
responsibility from an earlier age. In the end, they are less self-centered than kids who do not have
pets. Children with learning difficulties also benefit from interacting with pets. A study also stated
that having a dog around when learning increases a childs attention span.
A Cambridge University study concluded that owning a pet improved general health in as
little as one month. It also prevents heart disease by dramatically reducing cholesterol, blood
triglyceride levels and blood pressure. Owning a cat reduces the risk of having a heart attack up to 30
percent, and dogs can also predict seizures and even alert its owner of low blood sugar or
hypoglycemia. Having a pet also indirectly boosts ones physical activity due to exercising and taking
ones pet for walks. Drawing from my personal experiences, I feel that having a pet affects my general
health as I feel better every day after interacting with my pets.
Playing with a pet helps people to relax. Even only its presence can reduce heart rate and
lower blood pressure. This effect is more pronounced with people with hypertension (high blood
pressure), for whom the effects are equal to that gained by switching to a low salt diet or cutting
down on alcohol consumption. Having a pet also gives one the sense of having a companion and
improves overall morale, due to the feeling that one is not alone. As a cat owner, I believe that these
are all true, because after playing with my cats I feel better even when I am feeling gravely dejected.
In conclusion, I believe that it is extremely beneficial to own a pet, whether it a cat or a dog or even a
small critter. It helps us learn to take care of others and also put others interests in front of ours. It
also improves our overall health level as having one is linked to reduced blood pressure and longevity
from heart attacks. In addition, it is highly possible to relax with pets especially after tiring or stressful
days by playing with them.

14. The writer thinks that having a pet is positive because of these reasons, except?
a. It teaches them responsibility from an earlier age.
b. It improves overall health.
c. It boosts ones mood.
d. It prevents heart disease by dramatically reducing cholesterol.
e. It gives one the sense of having a spouse.

15. Based on the writer explanation, hypoglycemia is?

a. Low blood glucose
b. High rate Morale
c. Low internal bleeding
d. Low alcohol consumption
e. High trust on Pet
