Title: The Daily 5 Author: Gail Boushey and Joan Moser

On this page, the authors talk
about how the daily 3 helps
students become independent
with their math skills. I
related this to the world
Text to World because math is present in
everyday life and it is
important for our students to
know how to do math in
everyday life.

I related to the part in this
chapter that talks about the
kinesthetic practice of math
and how the daily 3 fosters
that. I am a very kinesthetic
person, so I think that this
Text to Self would work for me.

gradual release of
responsibility This is a
phrase that is talked about in
a lot of the education
textbooks that I have read
Text to Text because it is so important for
students to learn to be
responsible for their own
learning.

Building stamina is important when
it comes to academics but also
important in the real world. I
related this to the world, because I
think that this life requires stamina
Text to World in all capacities and if students are
taught it in school, they might have
a better chance in the real world.

I related this part of the text to
myself because of the use of
manipulatives. I think using
manipulatives in any subject are
super helpful and I understand
what I am doing a lot better if I
Text to Self have manipulatives to touch and
look at rather than having to think
abstractly.

I related the use of I-charts to
this same book but to the other
chapters. In the daily 5, the
reading sections, I-charts are used
often and for multiple reasons. I
Text to Text thought it was cool to see them
adapted to be used for math.
