CHAPTER-1 INTRODUCTION

The segway is a two-wheeled, battery-operated personal

transportation device. The Segway maintains its own balance and that of its
passenger. Segways are driven standing up and handle according to human body
dynamics. Segways are driven standing up and handle according to human body
dynamics. It has a maximum speed of 40 km/h (may vary depending on several
factors, such as riders weight and evenness of terrain). It is driven by an electric
motor. The electric scooter concept is complicated by confusing terminology inherent
to rapid technological change and by the various properties and performances of
existing models and a lack of parameters and common technical specifications.
Some regulations do not specifically mention electric scooters as such, while others
make a general reference to electric scooters amid a mixed array of skateboards, in-
line skates and motorized scooters (modified thermal and/or electrically powered).
Segway stands for Smart Electric bike.assemble parts are tyres, body, bearing,
handle, battery, wires, electric application etc.

BLDC (brush less DC motor):

Figure:-6 Brush less DC motor

Figure:-7 Design of Brush less DC motor

Basically its a brushless DC motor, which means you need a controlling

circuit for it, and yes, it is much like a stepper motor, in that you have to apply power
to one pair of wires. Brushless motors such as permanent magnet and switched
reluctance motors depend on electronic drive systems which produce rotating
magnetic fields to pull the rotors around. The speed and torque characteristics of
brushless DC motors are very similar to a shunt wound brushed (field energised)
DC motor with constant excitation. As with brushed motors the rotating magnets
passing the stator poles create a back EMF in the stator windings. When the motor is
fed with a three phase stepped waveform with positive and negative going pulses of

120 degrees duration, the back EMF or flux wave will be trapezoidal in shape. (See
diagram)

Advantages and Disadvantages of DC Brushless Motor

As one kind of DC motor, DC brushless motors were developed from conventional

brushed DC motors with the availability of solid state power semiconductors. DC
brushless motors are similar to AC synchronous motors.

Advantages of DC Brushless Motor include:

1. No appreciable heat is generated in the rotor. Thus the heat conducted to the
shaft is minimized.

2. Due to the lack of brushes, DC brushless motors can be operated at high torque
and zero rpm indefinitely as long as the winding temperature does not exceed the
limit.

3. No brushes of this kind of DC motor to wear out or contaminate the surroundings.

Brushless DC Motor Controller:

Figure:-9 Brushless DC Motor Controller

The E981.15, which comes in a small 7x7mm QFN package and is based on
the patented sensor less VirtuHall principle, controls BLDC/PMSM motors entirely
without external sensors. The device includes controller and driver for the control of
six N-channel power FETs with PWM frequencies of between 20 and 60 kHz and
provides numerous error and diagnostic possibilities.

CHAPTER:5 ADVANTAGE & DISADVANTAGE

Advantages:

o Its design is simple.

o Its controlling is easy.
o Good stability.
o Cheaper then other vehicales in market.
o Traffic congestion causes irritation to and reduced productivity for those stuck
in it, increased dependence on foreign oil, negative health effects, and
environmental degradation.
o Although the Segway has lower fuel costs than the auto.
o Segway in use rechargeable batteries
o Easily avalilable.
o Save petroleum and oil products.

Disadvantages:

o Problem in taking short terms because of long body

o Not possible to ride on lineuen roads.

CHAPTER:6 APPLICATION

o Industrial vehicle to room here and there in big industrial.

o Also can be used in big malls, super markets, Industry, colleges.
o It use in a short distance.
o The segway can run on straight ways.
o The segway can compare a with bike.

CHAPTER:7 FUTURE SCOPE

This vehicle can be modified for future. It can be used in indoor transportation
as it is compact and battery operated. This can be modified as per the requirement
of area and mass. in future it can have good efficiency to run hours without charging
by modifying battery, controller and motor Future in complete a oil, diesel; will use a
this source.

CHAPTER:8 CONCLUSION

Even if the Segway has lower fuel costs, some people might still prefer to
drive an automobile. People with physical disabilities that prevent operation of an
auto but not a Segway; people living on fixed incomes or those needing to cut
expenses; environmentally-concerned people wishing to improve air quality or
overcrowding in their community; trendsetters who like to be the first to accept and
utilize new products or innovations.
